PostSubject: great fabric site!!!!   Sat May 23, 2009 7:47 pm

I just found a fantastic fabric place that ALWAYS sells its fabric at sale prices. :froggy: A lady on another quilt board I'm on recommended it. I ordered on Wednesday and got it today! Lots of durrent Civil War fabric, 30's, other lines too. Best part????? MOST of the fabric is 3.50/ yd - 4.00/ yd. Some at 6.00. I got 9 yards of fabric for 33.25 + 4.95 shipping (1/2 of estimated price on invoice) = 38.20. The fabric is first quality.

On her website she says her store has been in business for 30 years and she changes the merchandise frequently (I can attest to that...there's new stuff since my order). I'm a very happy camper!!! Nancy C redworker2002

http://www.whittlesfabrics.com/

"Our fabrics are first quality. We have had several people ask how we can offer the great fabrics at this low of a price. Well honestly we do not have a large mark up on our fabrics, we have been in the same small town for over 30 years, and like dad says we are trying to survive - not get rich. We do not price fabric with the intention of putting it on sale later. We price our fabric to sell."

OH MY>... I just spent the last 45 min pouring over the fabrics offered. There is a little bit of everything in there!!! I have pasted this to my favorites and will be shopping there for sure!!

Finally someone who understands that quilters can't afford to spend hundreds of dollars on one quilt!

THANK YOU for posting this for us :yahoo: Hug

Good fabric is getting harder to find. I just took a peek in here and bookmarked it in my "favorites" for closer inspection later on. What I did see really impressed me totally.

Thank you Redworker for the site. I think it will end up being used by me quit a lot! It will be good for the encomny! My part in helping out with the stimulus! ha ha

I've ordered from them in the past. Always top notch service..and they threw in a free fat quarter. I think they've only been selling on line for a short while..but have had a "brick and morter" store for quite a long time? I found them when doing a search for shirting fabrics. They had stuff I couldn't find anywhere else. Sure can't argue about their prices?!

I understand that the LQS pay around $4.25-4.50 a yd...so they double what ever they pay and then add some on for shipping fees....yes the mark up is outrageous

LOVE Kaffe Fassett stuff!!!!!! I'm making a quilt top with big squares and then I'll applique circles of a charm swap of his on the top. Should be nice and colorful!!!!! Doesn't go with the decor (primitive, and 1940's) in my house, but OH SO FUN to work with. Yummmmmmmmmmm. My last batch from Whittles was 30's fabrics. :spring1:

Quilt stores mark up 200% + on everything they sell, ouch for us! These people are so cool being honest and fair, its certainly paying for them, hope eveyrone supports them :-)

Kaffe Fasset, my mum is nuts on his stuff and amy butler, that retro funky fabrics, she got $500 for her bday from grandma last year, there is a store here in a nearby town that sells nothing but kaffe and amy and retro, took mum there and well, I think she spent most of her dough there LOL she was all but skipping around the store in delight. She got a couple of fat 1/4 collections, she cant afford to buy fabric, nothing more than a fat 1/4 here and htere so it was like all her xmas at once. I just told her about your pattern idea Nancy, she loves it, funnily an aussie quilt mag I saw yesterday has a quilt with that design on the cover, I told her to go check it out, only difference is they have done 3 circles, each one smaller than the first but she will get the idea, she said thank you Nancy for giving her an idea, she thinks she just found what to make with her 70th bday fabrics!

That might be a picture from his newest book...there's a quilt in there kind of like that. That's so cute that your mum likes his fabrics! nothing old school about her then!

I'm just now getting into some of the modern large prints from Kaffee, Amy Butler, etc. I don't like ALL of it..but I do like some. It's such a departure from what I usually work with! My stash has a lot of 30's, a lot of Civil War, and a lot of tone on tone stuff..or things with small prints. I've stayed away from florals because I have 2 DSs that will some day inherit whatever quilts I haven't given away and I guess in the back of my mind..I'm sort trying to keep things boyish?
Well..I've decided it's OK to make girlie quilts! I'm a girl..and I'll enjoy them? Thumbup Whatever happens to them when I'm gone..I won't care? lmao

I was late in getting interested in Heather Ross. She made some real cute nostalgic fabrics, but she signed a "no competition" clause when she entered into a contract with a pajama company that wanted to use her fabrics. She has stopped designing and won't have any new runs of her older lines. She said since she'd have no control over how people would use her fabrics..it would be best not to sell them. As a result prices on her fabrics have gone through the roof! I saw a fat quarter of goldfish in bags..really cute..but it was selling for $40 a yard on ebay! I've really wondered about her statement that she doesn't want to violate the contract? I wonder if she is secretly working on new lines..but wants out of her contract with the PJ manufacturer..so won't release it? Or..did she just get tired of it?

Sounds like she found a way to make her fabric collectable LOL For crying out loud, if you are such a fussy artist then what are you doing selling your stuff to a pj company? Besides, if you design it then its up to whoever buys it to use in whatever manner they choose. If she doesnt like the idea of not being able to control the way her designs are used them perhaps she should just keep it for herself and not try and make a business lmao

Nothing wrong with girlie quilts AOL, make some just for you, for the sheer indulgent pleasure of whatever you feel like, what you want and whatever tickles your fancy, cant wait to see what you come up with

I think seeing my own designs in PJs would be such a hoot!!!! I looked up some of her fabric...there was one that was Princess and the Pea that was adorable and would make darling PJs!!!! I guess there might be some other items I might not like in my fabric in...but, ahhhhhhhh, I'll probably never have that problem... Shocked
