I have a quilt top that is so hideous I will NEVER quilt it! :affraid: I pieced it right after having a major surgery and was on pretty heavy pain meds. I started with a batik fabric I was going to use on the border and pulled fabrics from my stash that went with it. Blech! tigger People on meds shouldn't quilt! lmao Oh..and the best part of it being icky..is that it's purples and greens..muddy, yucky colors.

I think, to borrow a quote from a friend, I must have been smoking crack or something when I started that one. Honest to god, I think I liked it there....till maybe halfway through the blocks, then I hated it.

OT-I have a new saying.. I am growing my hair and not coloring it and there is much much grey (much to my mothers chagrin she likes it short) so now I go around and say "Grey Power" and loving it.. I am proud of being an "old Lady" and happy with my oddities.. that is me..now do I get the $64,000

AOL posted her ugly quilt on her blog and I must say it is not her.. she has a great story to go with it you can see it better there... I had better hurry and get mine on the blog too.. better to see the selective fabrics I used....
Lets see more uglies, more uglies, more uglies.. I will have to dig and see if I have a reason for not finishing a few more UFO's and if that is the reason.. LOL

You do know why your mother hates your gray don't you??
I also (for now) am choosing not to color) it is just driving my mother up the wall.
I think she doesn't want it to be known that she has daughters that are old enough to have gray hair!!
Even though I am DD # 4 and her eldest DD is 62....What she doesn't know is that her oldest grand daughter has gray hair.
Mother is 86

Bratt..I'm must be getting old..because I like your "ugly" quilt! I like the setting of it..and once quilted it will get even prettier.

Deb..I saw your quilt in the contest. It's not bad..it's just that it's purple?

I entered my beast and they haven't posted it. Might have broken their computer when they saw it? :affraid:
I post my pics on Flickr to crop and edit. I like their way of editing better than PhotoBucket. Wouldn't you know..a few people have seen it and one said she really liked it..and one gave me a Fabric, Patchwork, and Quilting award. They give those out to quilts they especially like. scratch
Here's a link to the quilt..I'm giving the one with the explanation..I feel like it needs an explanation? lmao

Ann I live for the day when I can make quilts as ugly as yours Thumbup
Where as I don't know if I would have gone purple, the frogs are fantastick.
This quilt is something someone who loves purple would love....finish it (not hand quilting) and sell it....someone will love this quilt....it really is cute.
My cousin had an Aunt and she only wore purple....she had flaming natural red hair...I thought she was so exotic....this quilt is exotic.

Well I told DH I entered that frog quilt in the ugly quilt contest and he said he actually likes it better than the hexagon quit with leaping frogs I just made. :affraid: Of course he's in Mexico..so I can't bop him. Knuppel It's a darned good thing he's not in charge of dcorating our house?

Deb..I can't believe you're going to take the time, energy, and fabric to add Prairie points to a quilt you don't love! :affraid: I'd be saving those for something special?

CC..exotic=weird? Like I tell my DH..we need to get more money so we can be wealthy. Wealthy people are called eccentric when they're weird. Regular folks are just weird when they're weird? lmao

Well Well.. it looks like we all have such different opinons on the uglies!! lol!

CC I agree with this wholeheartedly

Calico_Chris wrote:

Ann... I figure if I put the prairie points on they will look at them rather than the quilt..plus I paid an arm and a leg for the quilting to be an inch away from the boarder to put the prairie points on (a hard lesson learned) that I should continue with what I started..not to worry though it will still not be the best fabric.. I am using the green and I am still searching for the orange that is in the sashing to use.. if I can't find it then the green it is.. horrid sounding isn't it?? Embarassed

are there no other ugliesss.. to post or potential uglies!!

I'll post my ugly quilt tomorrow (I need to photo it to enter into that contest, anyway). I'll show YOU ugly, my sweet.... :fantasy-witch-

I will at least press it before taking a picture (though that probably won't help much...).

Deb..well I guess I understand your reasoning..but you have more determination than I if you're going ahead with the prairie points?

I can't picture you making an ugly either FB? scratch
