PostSubject: 2010 Quilt along ideas   Tue Sep 01, 2009 5:05 pm

I know its only Sept (officially spring here, maybe thats whats got me going!) but I thought starting a thread with ideas for next years quilt alongs etc could be fun. Post your ideas, what you'd like to see, ideas etc.

I was just thinking maybe we could make pillowcases as a quilt along, a pretty pair for each month or even a pair for each season with holiday ones mixed in between. Seems a lot of us are making them and have fun with them. I know I sure need them, only have one for each pillow in our bedroom, Laura has a whole set she was given as a xmas gift by Ellen a couple of years ago, they are so cool. You could even make them as gifts for the following xmas! now I am thinking far far ahead Shocked Anyway, I figured if I didnt jot it down Id forget, so here is my idea :)

well you made me think of it Anita, I was reading your pillowcase post and got to thinking how many of us are making them and having fun. Golo sent me some snowman and flannel fabric to make one for Laura so I hope to do that today, what fun!

HOw about a mixture of pillowcases and pillows... or pillow wraps.. they are easy and removeable so would be easy to exchange each month for a new theme....????

You mean pillow shams golo? I could use both for our bed. What about hot pot holders? Mine are starting to look pretty bad.

Any idea sounds good to me.

Oops! This is for anyone on the forum isn't it? I don't want to butt in where I'm not welcome. Embarassed

you bet this is for anyone, memaw4.... keep coming up with ideas... the pillowwraps are a flat piece of fabric with ties or velcro on the ends to wrap around the middle of the pillow.. I will try to find a picture... I think Nancy Halverson has some in one of her books... would be fun to applique on them like the t towels...

Nope, actually it's a small town in Illinois and not a suburb of Chicago. It's also home to Steak & Shake and the Mitsubishi sexual harassment lawsuits!

Don't know why I didn't think of the Bratt :hammer: . I only live about 30 miles from Normal. I don't think the "original" Steak and Shake is there anymore.
That's also where Beer Nuts are made and the only place. In their show rooms you can kill yourself eating all the samples. Also where Beich Candies were, now is owned by Nestles. Glad you mentioned all that good stuff.

well thats the problem then, my dryer doesnt have a normal setting lmao

Hey maybe I should move to normal, beer nuts - umm does that result in sexual harrassment suits? Dunno what a Beich candy is but it sounds good. What is steak and shake?

In the past Beich Candy was a fund raiser candy for a lot of schools and organizations. It was the greatest candy--oh so good. Lots of chocolate. We love to eat at Steak and Shake, they specialize in steak burgers (aka hamburgers) and chilli. They have wonderful Chilli Mac and Chilli. It is a fairly inexpensive place to eat. Still quite popular around here. Beer Nuts are really good, they have spicy, hot, sweet and about anything you could want.
(Much better than Vegimite lmao ). Now you can explain what Vegimite is, it's your crap, not ours lol! .

One thing I've kind of had a bug to do is a shelf quilt, I know jar quilts were very popular a few years back (before I was quilting) But what about having a block swap of things that look good on a shelf, maybe one person makes their square books, anohter does jars, another does an interesitng shelf item out of applique or PP. The thing that would be important is that the background color and block size all be the same. Just a thought.

Vegemite and Marmite are both sold at my local snitzy food shop. I've always wanted to try it but after reading the discription i think I'll pass....same thing with TVP (its a gray mass of pebbles that are sold in a bag) Textured Vegetable Protein.
I'm trying to eat healtier and I just can't get into the whole tofu thing.

TVP good lord, madd to eat that years ago, was worse than nutmeat, doest matter what you do with it still tastes the same LOL

Kraft owns vegemite and this one is all yours america -

On 7th July 2009, Kraft released a 'second' vegemite, which differs from the original recipe. The new formula combines Vegemite and Kraft cream cheese, spreads more easily and has a considerably less salty, more 'tolerable' taste than the original. To coincide with the release of the new recipe, Kraft is running a competition to give the new flavour a name.(The contest has since ended)
