Just read this post and first thought was, no way, too many craft shows coming up this fall. But after reading all the posts decided will participate. Even decided on the pattern. So count me in. Last Christmas swap I got the cutest pin cushion from Linda. It was glued permanently in a hand painted box. Love it and use it all the time. The box gives it a firm base. But Linda, have a question, what did you stuff it with. Firmer than fiberfill but doesn't shake like sand. Really want to know. jessie s

Jessie,
I filled it with whatever come in side the tomato pin cushions you can get at Joann's for 2 for a dollar or so. Just remember you don't have to fill your pin cushion if you don't want too. Glad your in the swap!

Welcome Mamu! Glad to have you, too!

Linda2B, you mean you actually bought a tomato pin cushion and dumped the insides out and then filled your handmade pin cushion with what you dumped? I never thought of that. I may just do that with mine. Great idea Linda. Thanks.

I really love the idea Linda. The pincushion in the box you sent me for the Secret Santa Swap has great stuffing. Never thought of the tomato thingy. Going to do that too. Teaching youngest DIL to sew. Lending her my backup sewing machine now to use but buying her a good used one for Christmas so want to fill her stocking with sewing things. Going to make 2 pincushions, one for here and one for DIL. jessie s

:affraid: :affraid: Maybe you should take THEM a pin cushion..so they have something else to stick their needles in?
I hope they aren't the ouchy kind of shots! Close your eyes and picture the animals in Africa?

Annie - that would be really funny, wouldn't it? I hope I didn't sound like I was whining - I'm quite a tough cookie when it comes to shots - I won't need to close my eyes. It just struck me funny (my weird sense of humor, maybe?) since we'd been talking about voodoo doll pin cushions. . . and I thought I'm going to be a real life one!

Mary Ann does this mean that whoever you get will get a pin cushion looking like you. Sounds like fun. Maybe we should all make pin cushions that look like us. jessie s

I've never made a pin cushion before. Are they difficult to make? Must go online and do a search for a pattern to see if this is something I can do.

StillStitchin - It's good to see you - and your avatar because your cutie doggie just makes me smile! I've never made a pin cushion, either. There are so many patterns out there. I jumped into this swap thinking I can surely find a pattern that I'll be able to handle, and I didn't want to miss out on the fun!

Stillstitchin, I've not made a pin cushion either in all my years of sewing! Now you'd think at some point I would have. Nope! Easier to buy them. I'm looking forward to doing this swap too. I have a pin cushion kit, but just may go on line and see what other patterns are out there! I want mine to be totally off the wall.

Of course by the time I get it made, I may be totally off!

Ok, ok...I'm in!!!

I went online and looked at some patterns. I seem to remember a pattern in one of the quilting mags some time ago too. Maybe I can look that up again. Lot of mags to go through though. Can you tell that I love quilting mags?

About an hour after I signed up for this swap I was watching a sewing programme on PBS and they showed the cutest pincushion. Looked easy to do so making 2, one for the swap and one as a Christmas gift for youngest DILs stocking. jessie s
