hey I like your idea of posting pics of what they got then having the gifter step forward - cute! I think by putting the recipients address as both the adressee adn the sender it hides who it is from. In some instances I have sent mine to someone in teh states adn then they have posted it on to hide my aussie postmark and stamps LOL! this is fun!

We could put our addresses on the back of the envelope, but no name. Then we could be on our honor to NOT look at the back. Or give to DH and he has to open and toss the envelope. Or you could promise to close your eyes, open and destroy the envelope.

I am really getting into this.

I think everyone should gift something small like an ornament or two or even 3. A table runner or topper. A pillow. A pot holder. An embellished hand or fingertip towel. Using your stash or scraps, the cost would be minimal.

We could make it any season or just Christmas. Anyone have any thoughts on that? I assumed since it's Secret Santa, that we should choose Christmas fabric, but it really could be anything.

I'll go along with what ever you all decide. I have my pattern picked out and even have the fabric......Christmas or whatever.

I plan to put my person's name on the front and back!

PostSubject: Re: Secret Santa Swap   Tue Sep 29, 2009 7:14 am

All right, I just got asked if I would host this party! I said yes... so here is the OFFICIAL Opening of the Swap. It starts today and I will close it on October 20th. That way we have time to pester the reluctant ones. winking I would like to have the "opening" party some time in the beginning of December. I am thinking December 4 or 5th. It is HARD to wait until Christmas and everyone gets soo busy that getting online is almost impossible for some. If we go with the party around the 4th or 5th, everyone needs to have their little packages into the mail by Nov 15. That should be plenty of time to get them to their destinations.

I need for everyone to PM me with their address. That way, I can mix up names and get them out to everyone by the 22nd at the latest. If you have qualms about sending outside your country, let me know that too. It can be hard to get the $$ for postage outside the states, or canada, australia, etc. Also, if you want to be really sneaky, you can send your package to me and I will be happy to send it on to your person. Let me know in your PM if you intend to do that.

The rules are as follows, NO PEEKING! NO BLABBING! (HEHEHE) Teasing is completely optional and encouraged. I will take bribes but they had better be really good. LOL Just kidding, no bribes, my lips are zipped. :others-164: Don't spend over $10 (not sure what that translates into Aussie and Canadian) but this is more about giving a gift of love to someone you know on the forum, not how much money you have. You can make something, sew something, cross stitch, knit, crochet, etc... or you can buy it. I don't know what I am going to do just yet, but I will know as soon as I have my person. The gift you send doesn't have to be Christmas-ish, though if you get my name, Christmas-ish is GOOD! It just has to be something from the heart. And lastly, have fun! No stressing, please.

Also, to help each other out, post your likes and dislikes here:
http://www.quilterslastresort.com/swaps-and-charity-projects-f24/swappers-likes-dislikes-tell-us-your-preference-t1075.htm
That way, if someone needs help, they can go look there and see what you are in to. If you have posted, please go back and edit your post.. add in what your favorite Christmas motif(s) is (are)... that will help some a LOT.... NO STRESS! LOL

I did notice one suggestion.. PLEASE do not leave a return addy off. I know from experience that they will make you put one on. At least they do at my PO. But you can put the recipients addy on in BOTH places if you want. I asked.

I think that covers it. If you have questions, holler! Mostly this is about fun. Enjoy the teasing. I know I do!

Marian take your quilted base ball bat with you to help 'encourage' Anita to join Knuppel We want to make sure she gets the message she is wanted lmao

TMM you could make another mug hug seeing as you are doing one you know how to do them now and they make a cute gift.

Where is Finisher, she seems to sneak off and who else is there we can 'coerce' into joining?
