You sure got that done fast Golo! I like the blue you used..did you find your fabric?

I copied off the pattern..but so far I'm not feeling the urge to jump in. The snowman sitting on a cupcake didn't make sense to me? scratch

It doesn't make sense to me either, Ann, but I decided not to question any of it this year and to just do it... I am sure it is going to be really cute when done.... I haven't even looked for the fabric yet... I am sure I will find what I want, just have to go looking for it, but I won't do that till I am getting done with it... like next Nov. LOL...

Well, I've got the scrap box out here and I'm going to try to get mine fused tonight maybe. I need to figure out my background fabric again. Mom picked it for me earlier, but she was also trying to go and mess up my fabric neatly stacked. I've got two more blues that are maybes. I think I'm going to use what she picked for borders.

Is anybody else doing this one? I have my block done, slapped borders on it, and I'm ready to do the hand part of the binding. I have a hanger for these coming soon, so I'm hoping to get it finished before I get my hands on it. I'm also trying to finish my Feb. Dog Yeared quilt from last year too, so I've got a general idea of how much on each project I want to get done. Basically, I want my dog's borders quilted AND the binding done on Frosty by this weekend. totally doable, but I figure I'll wait till the hanger shows up before I take a picture. I'm hoping it comes by Saturday so I can get that and my other stuff I'm havign shipped to Mom's that day!

Linda..I'm not doing this one, so can't answer about the backgrounds. There's a flickr group set up..have you looked there to see what others are using?

Excellent question Linda! With a snowman being white I never even gave it a thought as to the background color. I'm thinking maybe dark blue with snowflakes? Course I'm a flake anyway!

Memaws, thats just what I was thinking. Blue with white dots or snowflakes.
I just can't get a picture in my mind of the setting blocks which are in red, red and white, blue and white. I keep thinking you would have to be careful what colors you us in the applique so it goes with the setting blocks!
I'm probably over thinking all this Maybe I should just make the applique block and worry about the rest when I get there!

Linda, I used a med/dark blue with some metallic flecks in it. My snowman is a white fabric with silver flecks. Mom was trying to get me to use something else, but I told her I'm not using that particular blue because I have plans for it.

So how does this sound a dark blue with small white dots with the snowmen made of white fabric with silver speckles. And I will worry about the setting when I finish the applique blocks.

I like the idea of the dark blue background..but be aware you may have to line your white pieces/or get a thicker fabric so the dark doesn't show through?
I even thought..since this is a wall hanging..maybe felt would work for the snowmen?

I finished mine last night. I'll take a picture later, after I pick up my hanger from Mom's.

I went to the QS to get white fabric w/silver sparkles for my snowmen but they didn't have it! Then I decided I would use white fannel but they didn't have that either. So I can't start my block unill I find the fabric.
I may have to go with Anitas idea and use batting if I can't find anything else.

Linda, after you applique it on, you could always remove some of the blue fabric from behind the snowman. Then it wouldn't show through.

Just an idea!
