PostSubject: 4 Season Candle Mat   Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:48 pm

Anyone interested in making candle mats.... thought it would be fun to make one for each of the seasons instead of every month.... or we could only make two with a different season on each side... I saw them here http://www.clotilde.com/list.html?criteria=candle+mat I am sure we can come up with our own pattern... Do our own applique patterns or go to quilter cache and pick out some pattern ?????

So far interested:

I think we can do them any way a person wants to ... personal use... The first two seasons are Winter and Spring.... so we have till June to do the first one ... or sooner if we want to use them. This is like the t towels we did... doing our own pattern and showing them when we are done.... and the second one would be done for Summer and Fall .. a bonus one could be done for Christmas..

That sounds like a good idea, I clicked on the snowman pattern and it says 9" finished so thats a good size.

I guess I could do mine back to front to suit my coming seasons? Autumn starts in march here, what do you think? I wouldnt want to confuse people.

Those are darling, but everyone please remember that without proper containers, like the ones shown, candles can be dangerous. A friend lost his house from one.

Im paranoid too but I love scented candles and always keep them on saucers bigger than them and I only buy the squat solid candles Our house burned down when I was a child, ovens, irons, electric blankets and candles make me paranoid

I was thinking Undesided you could make little mug mat coasters to match the candle mat and have a table centrepiece, or just use the candle mat as a centrepiece

If you put double batting in them, they would made good hot pads to put casserole dishes on the table.

Don't mind being in charge of the swap, but have never made a candle mat or worked with felt, so I wouldn't be one to come up with the pattern!

Are y'all talking swap or just a quilt along type thing?

I think I would be more interested in a quilt a long. Then we could target a certain spot in the house where we want a mat and make just what we want.

what if we did both? Those who want to swap make two, one for themselves as part of the quilt along aspect and those who just want to quilt along just make the one for themselves? Or is that too confusing?
