I would like it not to run too long ... so if most are too busy yet we can wait till later in spring... Its looking like we will start this in May...so plenty of time for everyone to decide... so far interest is shown from 12 gals[/b]

It would be great if we could get 12 to 16 members to join the swap to make a decent quilt!! common gang.. think it doesn't have to be done till May.. did you look at those cute patterns??

I guess we will be machine appliquing these??

Question.. I am wondering what is the best to applique with that makes the quilt still soft?? what does everyone use for machine applique??

Can I join in too (but I can only do machine applique)?? I know that the cost of postage to Australia can be a bit pricey. May is good for me too. I got some really nice oriental prints on the weekend. I shouldn't let the first/last swap I took part in on a different site negatively influence all swaps.

I'm interested but depends on the timeline. If we don't start until March or so, May will come much too quick for me. Thud

I just read somewhere about a fusible stabilizer that disappears when you either soak the block after each is made or when the finished quilt is washed, but they didn't give the brand name. Going to look for some when I go to JoAnn's tomorrow. I usually use lightweight WonderUnder & it's pretty soft.

Oh annemarie.. can you look into the other stuff if you can find out the name...I want to use it as a quilt and hope that we all use the light weight so that it is not too stiff...

I will be doing machine applique... easier on the hands and joints... when appliquing if you only leave the the fusible around the edges it makes for a softer piece... just cut out your centers before fusing to your piece.... A spray adheisive works pretty good. I have used 505 and 606 ... there is a Misty fusible that is really soft... I haven't used it yet but maybe I will try it...

IABM9 we are aiming to start in May and I would like to end it by the end of June... I see no need to draw it out....

Between I agree with you, I would LOVE to see more gals sign up.... There are 3 different designs to make and we will have to decide how to do this?

If we only have about 12 members I don't mind sending to each of the participants...it would be cool again to open the envelopes like we did once before.. it is going to cost just as much to send as one package.. what does everyone else think.. not that I am taking over....just an idea..LOL

I will try to be less straight forward...maybe... my fingers type faster than my brain works.. lucky we have an edit button.. darn I lost the edit button..

Between, I love your input... anybody with any ideas is welcome to voice them..... sending out individually is just fine with me.... so far there are 8 of us...

We hope that everyone will use Asian Fabric for the applique... Would you like to do white on white or cream on cream.... or plain muslin ????? Group choice here...

I vote for Cream on Cream or a Beige on Beige.
I like the color they used in the patttern.

It doesn't matter to me what color for the background... I have white/white or cream/cream or beige/beige...

I don't have any muslin and don't really like the idea of using it for background as there are so many different color dyes and thread count of muslin fabrics.
