PostSubject: Book I'm Reading   Wed Sep 03, 2008 7:43 am

I started a new book last night at bed time and couldn't put it down!! The title is " My Heart Remembers " by Kim Vogel Sawyer. I read 119 pages and then discovered it was 2 AM!! Very good read about three kids that were orphaned when their place burned with parents still in it, and each of the three kids were taken in by three different people in different places and they try to find one another as they grow up. Can't wait to get back to it, it's sure a page turner!! :sunny: Norma

Hummerlou and Ruthanne, couldn't go to sleep until I finished the book!!! Well worth it, I believe it said she had something like twelve books, gotta get them all!!! The lady that delivers my books from the library brought me five books written by her, so now I have one titled " Bygones ", which is the first of a series of three. I'm going to start next. Very good reading!! Norma

I will check her out after I finish all my Diane Mott Davidson books. Started the second one last nite, "The Cereal Murders". Diane's maiden name is the same as mine, don't know if there is really a connection or not, but it intrigued me enough to read her books. They are really good!

I just finished Girl with the Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. Loved it! Very little is actually know about the model or the artist (Vermeer), but this author made up a story around the painting. I loved that creativity. But it's a rather quick read, and I really enjoyed it.

karol - I think that's in my book pile - wasn't sure after I'd find it interesting, but now I'm anxious to dig it out and read it. Thanks for the review!

One of my favorites recently was "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society". I tried reading "The Shack". It was just too weird for me, though I know it's a well received book. Have any of you read it?

:peek: Just peeking in! HEHE Thought I would put my two cents in. I have not heard of some of those books but I just "read" (listened to on CD) the J Chiaverini book Winding Ways Quilt, then Where the Red Fern Grows and finally The Light Princess. The first was awesome as all J. Chiaverini's are, but it was too short! (9 hours to listen to it all...heheheheh that is too short. ;) ) And I am sure everyone knows about Where the Red Fern Grows. That was so sad, I actually was crying. cry2 The last one, The Light Princess is a fairy tale for kids, only 2 hours long. I loved it! Smitten It is about a princess whose curse is being deprived of all gravity. In other words she is lighter than a feather. But she is also deprived of gravity in the other sense, everything is funny to her. She constantly laughs. The prince comes, of course, and saves the day and she in turn saves him and "they lived happily ever after", of course. It sounds rather ordinary in words but when you listen to it, it is really sweet!

I've been laid up over the summer with surgery on my right shoulder, and have gotten into serial murder mysteries written by female authors. I've read all the Diane Mott Davidson books, Elaine Viets has 2 series that was good, Tamar Myers has a good one, Donna Andrews has 2 really good ones; and I've stocked up for my left shoulder surgery the end of this month with Leann Sweeney, Kate Collins and Laura Levine. If any of Y'all know of any I should get, let me know. I have previously read Chaverinni, J.A. Jance, Evanovich, Alex Kava, Catherine Coulter, Lisa Scottoline. Sue GRafton, Tamar Myers and I can't remember who all else. I'm tired now. I think I need to sleep.

Carol Rose - Emilie Richards has a three book "Ministry is Murder" series. There's also the southern sisters series by Anne George. Both of these series are lighter, more humorous mystery series - - not so graphic as some and clean language - and just plain fun to read.

Carol Rose have you heard of Margaret Maron? She writes a series about Judge Deborah Knott. The first book is "The Bootlegger's Daughter" and you can find her books on Amazon. They are fun light reading about murder in small towns.

At present I am reading Earlene Fowler's series and Diane Mott Davidson's series.

Good luck with the surgery and happy reading!

I'm on the third and last in the series of Kim Vogel Sawyer's, titled "Blessings". It's just as good as the other two were. It's a story about an Amish family and their day to day lives. Very good read. Norma

HMMM Very cute!!
Just finished Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. It was very funny but a bit too like the first. Needed more original disasters for Bridget to get herself into. But it did have me cackling at lots of spots. Good for those who do not want a thought-provoking read! Thumbup
