| I use prairie points alot they really make a quilt I think and not just for kids quilts like some people think... I love the yoyo finish I have seen it one step further where the yoyos are tiered like this all the way along o o o oo oo oo ooooooooo
it almost looks lacy... _________________ Deb in Toronto One Life to Live http://patchworksanity.blogspot.com/

| is it just me, or do people only love or hate yo-yo's, no in-between? I've seen some wonderful stuff done with scalloped edges and yo-yos. And as I told Schnookie recently, I'm not a fan of prairie points unless there's a ridiculously large amount of them and they're teeny-tiny. (No, I haven't gone there) I've done the "no-binding binding" and I love it, though it's not for every project. Remember the Bullseye quilt (the one allowed me to find this group)? Since it's done with raw edges, I did the same on the binding - just sewed two rows of stitching (with the machine) at 1/4" from and 'real close' to the edge. Since I use Warm N Natural, the flannel back, the cotton batting and the cotton top all got just barely fuzzy and very, very soft. I am totally and completely challenged by the envelope finish and the one where you bring the backing around to the front. I try but it never ever works out, and I end up adding an applied binding every time. _________________ (clicky, clicky!) FiberBabble's Blog |

| I tried the back to the front and it looked like crap, no other word in the whole world to explain it better - I never did it again. Golo does a lot of the envelope type when she does fleece backings, I have only done it on a dolls quilt and once I had it all turned the right way out I ironed it then stitched around the edge 1/8" to close the opening and secure it, then I went and stitched about another 1/4" in and it did give it a binding effect but I havent done it again. Havent touched prarie points either, they look real pretty on some quilts but the amount of fabric puts me off - maybe in the future I need to do something with scrap prarie points? Now theres an idea. cut and iron scrap pieces into prarie points and pop them in a box, one day there will be enough for a border for a scrappy quilt! _________________ Tomato plants are dead, garden ran out of red - yeehaw, Im a happy chappy!!!! |

| No two ways about it I think there are thous who love them and thous who hate them....
My prairie points are all made from left over fabric that was in the quilt itself. I must admit they are a lot of work! |
