I am reading Scotland An Intimate Portrait, non fiction, in preparation for our trip. It was loaned to me by my DDIL.

just finished book 9 in The HOllows series by Kim Harrison... trying to NOT run out and devour book 10 right away!

GimpyCat, you might want to check out the podcast "Welcome to Nightvale". Very different, very different. Some of it makes me think, a lot of it makes me want to quote it, some makes me grin wryly (yes, I found myself grinning wryly) and a couple of times I've just laughed out loud.

Aaaand that's all I'm saying. Except be sure to get through at least the first two episodes before passing judgement. Unless you love it, of course. lmao

Norma, it is much like the first. I am only halfway through but it is good. Not sure how it's going to end. Some of the characters from the first book are in it.

FB you have piqued my interest!!! Will be having a listen for sure, might try Kim Harrison again, couldnt get into her the first time but sometimes a second try you take to something.

Im almost finished a book called Browning Sahib by Peter Corris, certainly different, written a bit in the style of an old bogart movie, written around a character who is friends or comes into the orbit of vivien leigh, peter finch and during the filming of elephant walk in Celyon in the 1950's. Part of a series and its an easy read and well, quite different and enjoyable. Kind of gumshoe detective but the guy isnt a detective, hmm not sure how else to describe it

hopefully it wont take long to show up library catalogue shows 6 copies and 4 sitting on shelves so fingers crossed I get it soon, her attention to detail reminds me of diana gabaldon and lo and behold they are both historians, it shows in their writing :readingsmilie:

Speaking of Diana Gabaldon, I finished Outlander and loved it but now I am waiting to start the second one until we get back from Scotland. I don't want to carry a 900 page book around and I am trying to finish the nonfiction one about Scotland before the trip. But, oh, I want to start that book so badly. big sigh

I really enjoyed them. Couldn't put them down!
I'm back to the Sookie Stackhouse books until I go to the library or book store.

Its really good sewn, Im over halfway through it already and very easily written, flowing and just to the point. Not a lot of posing and ego to make you yawn, I like it, he comes across as a really decent bloke.

I have this one on order from the library

Here's a youtube link for an interview and trailer (kind of) for the Starz Outlander series filming now in Scotland. It's a long interview with the author but the trailer is in the beginning for Outlander fans.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1rkkyp78xFQ&list=WLE7315C4BE4F611BF

For some reason this is not starting at the beginning so go back to the first for the trailer.

My son's DMIL in Scotland said she couldn't watch it either and I didn't understand why. I didn't know they did that.

Oh, they will probably dye his hair red.
