I'm so looking forward to the series but I don't agree with their choice for Jamie. I haven't tried the Lord John books yet, they don't seem like my cup of tea. It's addicting though... I read those books quickly and got nothing done during that time:)
I'm reading an Alice Hoffman book right now.

Gerard Butler would be my absolute first choice:) He's adorable! No need to hear a fake scots accent...

I think a lot of people were wanting Gerard Butler but he is too old since Jamie is 22 in the first book. This guy they've chosen is Scottish which is good. The girl is really Irish but can probably sound English. I am so into this book right now.

the guy the chose is just not Jamie Thud  The only problem with gerard butler is he isnt that big and Jamie is a big guy, never mind, I'll take him anyway!

I just started Death by Black Hole by my favorite astrophysicist, Neil deGrass Tyson.

Just finished Tracy Chevalier's Virgin Blue. Very good, loved her Girl with a Pearl Earring. There is one more book by her, wonder if the library can get it for me?

I'm sure they can, they get all of mine for me and even bring them to me since I can't get in there. They have lots of nice things like that here for the disabled and seniors here. if they don't have it they can borrow it from another library too.

GimpyCat, you might want to check out the podcast "Welcome to Nightvale". Very different, very different. Some of it makes me think, a lot of it makes me want to quote it, some makes me grin wryly (yes, I found myself grinning wryly) and a couple of times I've just laughed out loud.

Aaaand that's all I'm saying. Except be sure to get through at least the first two episodes before passing judgement. Unless you love it, of course. lmao

Not sure what I think FB, Ive listed to two and a half but Im pretty tired, will give it some more time though when I can, its certainly quirky!

I sometimes listen to Pseudopod but its horror stories. They do one each week.

I haven't devoured Nightvale as other reader friends have, but still dip in for an episode on occasion.  The pondering/quoting/laughing part still stands for me :)

LOL I did the same thing when I read those books Bobbie, good is good and thats all there is to it. The only other writer Ive come across who is as good at the historical research/accuracy which I loved is a lady called Deborah Harkness, she has two books out so far in a series of 3, first one is called

A Discovery of Witches (has time travel too) great book as is the sequel

Right now Ive been reading some old western stories from the 30's and 40's and a few books by Linda Howard

I should maybe double-post, because I'm having a great time both reading and listening to Alexander McCall Smith's "The Number One Ladies' Detective Agency" series. I have the audible and ebooks synced on my iPad, so whether I choose to listen or to read , I can pick right up where I left off.

These books are just plain fun, feel good reading. I really like the main characters. The books are set in Botswana, which makes for interesting reading about the people and places.

Gwennie, how do you like The Night Circus? I haven't been able to decide if I want to get that book.
