Guess I got here first. So here goes.

I already posted this but will repeat it.
On the outside of your house, under your meter box is a smaller box with a large breaker in it. This is the main breaker for your whole house. After a storm, if you are the only house in the neighborhood out of power, chances are good this breaker was tripped. Go out and make sure it is off and then flip it on. Do this physically because you cannot always tell by just looking.

If other people in the neighborhood are also out of power, it probably is not your breaker but you can not hurt anything by testing it.

My neighbors tend to growl at me when the power goes off. When others are powerless, our generator keeps humming. Town power was out for a 4 day stretch after a big storm last winter.
lmao

Im just glad that I no longer live a place with the old fashioned wire fuses, have rented a few places with those over the years. The fuse always blew on cold rainy nights and then Id be stuck trying to rewire the mongrels out in the elements LOL

Gimpy I am glad our old house doesn't have those anymore too.
We bought a new faucet for the bathroom. I am going to ask if I can do it under his supervision. Then I can learn if I need to ever do it on my own.

I broke my sister's bathroom faucet once. I went a bought a new one and had to figure out how to install it myself. It wasn't that hard.

Those reindeer are already flying high enough!!! That could be dangerous!

BTW, if you are dealing with breakers, make sure you are DRY, so you don't make a ground. Also, not all building codes call for breaker on the outside of a house. Around here, if there is an attached garage, the breakers are usually there. In this house, we have 2 breaker boxes. the 12v one is behind my dresser, a really inconvenient place. The other is in our power room, outside.

Lots of replacement parts come with directions, some of which are intelligible. Clerks in the better hardware stores are able to give advice too. If you don't want to become a crispy critter, please remember to turn off the power to any circuit you are planning to alter.

Marynel with our 240volt power in australia its too easy to become a 'crispy critter' no way you'd do your own installation of light fittings and stuff like that. You have me chuckling at the flying high comment!

Couldn't we steal his naughty list? Think of the time it'll take to recreate.
