PostSubject: 2011 Sew Along Quilt - BOM   Sun Nov 28, 2010 10:14 am

Anyone interested in doing a BOM sew along quilt like we did with the Stars a couple of years ago....  Every month one person can pick a block .....  we sew it up however we like ...  we can mix up sizes of blocks... lets challenge ourselves  and see how our quilt comes together....  if its a small block just add sashing and borders...  We would have an ending size ... like a 10" or 12" block.... whatever we all decide on...  color and fabric left up to the individual...       Quilter Cache was a good site to get blocks and I am sure there are other places...  remember its just one block a month for the next 12 mo...   sewing2   remember this is your own quilt no mailing anything...     Hope its okay with everyone.. I just went down the line  .. so you all know what month you can pick a block....  Have I missed anyone????

PostSubject: Re: 2011 Sew Along Quilt - BOM   Fri Dec 03, 2010 8:39 pm

each month one of you gals will pick a block and we will all make it.... It is only one block a month .... its for yourself so you pick your own fabric that you want to make your quilt out of.. you have all month to make the block ..... We will decide on the size of the finished block that we want... of course we will have to decide on this by the end of the month... so give me some imput gals.... I like a finished 10" block... or 12" block... doesn't take so many to make a quilt that way...how does everyone else feel..??? so each month we need to post our block in a special album that Helen will but up for us. The first one to post their block will be the one to pick the block for the next month... One of the sites to go to is www.quilterscache.com anyone know any other sites.?????? any more questions just ask....

perhaps each month the 'picker' could choose two blocks, making sure one is real simple so all skill levels are covered?

I think I'll do this one. I did the one last time, but didn't complete it. However, one of the things I didn't like about it is the boring choice of fabric I made. I was just starting to quilt and wasn't very good at choosing fabric colors and prints. I'm much more creative now.

I think I better too. We still have a lot to do to the house......like finish the sewing room in the basement! Right now I'd better spend my money there! Maybe next year at this time I'll be able to say YES.

I"m going to pass on this, I did do the star sew along and it was great fun. I'm having a great deal of trouble focusing lately and have resolved to finish UFO's and start a hand applique project. I'm sure it will take me all of 2011 to do that.
I'll have fun seeing what blocks you choose!

I would like 12.5 unfinished to go with the star blocks so I can make a bigger quilt.
I have lots of the fabric leftover.
