MeMaw.. I will change fabrics sometimes half way through a project!! I was looking at the picture again and thinking that for the snow flakes I will use different whites as well as some off whites..remember no 2 snowflakes are the same...

Are we going to be able to wait till March I think that is the question..

I don`t see step 4 up as yet though...

I dont see step 4 up yet either, she must be busy this time of year. About 4 or 5yrs ago all I wanted for xmas was one of her books, I was so happy to get it from DH, one day Im making a quilt out if, just cant decide which one!

march sounds good for me too, with it being summer holidays adn then going to the mainland in febuary, DH and Laura go back to school mid feb, life will settle some then for me (hahaha thats what I always say isnt it?)

Oh Henny Penny I didnt mean to infer you were inexperienced, I rambled a bit in my post kind of went from encouraging you to join us to generalising in the hopes of luring anyone out there who thinks they havent the experience to give it a go, sorry if you thought I meant you were inexperienced, I can see by your beautiful quilts you are way ahead of me and Im planning on picking your brains in the years to come!!

I found out why the last step isnt up, I think Beths blog post might explain it, seems she had surgery Dec 23rd, hope she is feeling better now and can spend 2011 sewing again

I should of stopped in here first! I just posted on the site that she hadn't put up the last step! I also figured it had something to do with the holidays. I didn't realize she had had surgery. Praying she's feeling much better now.

I was just on Connecting Threads checking out fabric! They have quit a bit on clearance. I was playing around with some on the design table to see what it looked like together. Nice thing about that is if you don't like it you can just click it with your mouse and it's gone! And it didn't cost you anything but your time.

BTW: they also have 6 pages of FREE pattern downlo!ads

Betweens, I've already changed my mind on that background. I found a
beautiful purple I just loved while on Connecting Threads. It's like a
marble type fabric. Just gorgeous. I just may have to get that......before I
change my mind again!

Or maybe you just make more than one and indulge your indescision!

Oh heavens Gimpy, I wasn't insulted or anything !! LOL In experienced I meant I have had lots of sewing time [ if that is what makes " experience " ] but experience doesn't mean you are good at it !! I know my limits and what i can and can't do well enough to please myself. As I have stated before , I don't like the sewing machine , so most of my work is done by hand ...ergo....it takes a looong time to make things ! I do like the quilt and know I could change the snowflakes to just plain stars or leaves as someone said if I wanted to do it. I just am not sure that it is a relevant enough pattern for an Australian to do considering everything else I have that is waiting. I am looking forward to seeing every one's who does participate though .

Participation is just joining in and bantering with us that is part of the sewing circle so Henny Penny your name is in just for the banter we would love for you to come by and keep us company while we sew on our machines and you can work on one of your hand projects and tell us all about it as well.
I know when we have a sew and show not everyone is doing the same thing so this would be great...

Gimpy you are a buggar poor Memaw she is not going to know how many she will have done by the time we start she will have the whole rainbow of colors and about 5 in mind..LOL.

This is great to have so many of us sewing together Golo you are right it has been a while and we have so many plans for the group already started by spaced out enough that we can manage and get things done..

Gimpy Ihave a whole shelf full cause I love to use my different backgrounds on applique..this quilt will only be from my stash one of my NY resolutions is to not spend till next holiday season.

I have to be like Marynel and hit the stash so I will be using only the coordinates I have on hand..not to worry there is a big selection

Mine's all packed so I'll have to go through and see just what I have. I may need to go and get some, but only because I'd want too, not because I'd need too!

I just wish my new sewing room was finished so I could get things organized the way I want them. Till then I go through bags of fabric till I find what I'm looking for. Well, at least it's all clean and folded and in some sort of order!

I plan to go through mine before I head off to my DD and SIL. They live in Columbus, Ohio and there are several Quilt Shops there plus Jo Ann Fabric stores. I could spend the whole day going from shop to shop!

Hmm, now there's an idea! AND, I'm lovin' it!
Wonder if hubby would explode if I came home with MORE fabric?

He'd get over it I am sure.

That is the only upside to having a pack rat DH. He never opens his mouth when I buy stuff. Twisted Evil

thats a great way to start the new year and if DH says anything just explain that if your sewing room was finished you would ahve been able to find the fabric you already have and not needed to buy any more but................its not finished so you had to shop!!

Gimpy I can always count on you for an answer! He wouldn't explode, he'd just look at me and say...."how much did that cost me?" Then grin when I'd say..."I was worth every penny so don't worry about it honey!"

He's pretty good about not saying anything when I go to DD and shop. I don't do it that often and I'm NOT a big spender when I do. I watch for sales and buy nothing for FULL PRICE EVER and he knows that as well.

Besides, would it really do him any good to say anything? Probably not! Nuff said!

Was just looking at my pattern, and on step one talking about cutting the blue background fabric, does she mean cut 88 ~ 3 1/2" squares? Mine says eight-eight so I figured she meant 88, but wanted to be sure.

thanks

good question Memaw.... if you look at the outlay it shows 48 blocks (12 sets of four) and you will need 40 (20 sets of 2) so that would add up to 88......

are you ready to cut... I hope to get my fabric this week..... sale at the LQS
