Seems like swaps have wound up and it must be time to start a new one, we need ideas. Come on, share what you have rattling round your head, what kind of swaps could we do?

Like the candle mat idea...I too have tinkered with making some. Never done any felt work.

How about coasters? Just saw some cute round ones......coming from the world of mugginess here in Houston.....every glass in the house with any ice in it at all sweats like crazy. I use coasters everywhere. I'll look for a pattern when I have a minute.

I like both the candle mat and the coaster ideas!
Those candle mats can be made from cotton too, can't they!

Anita, love your idea. Just wish I had a table! Haven't had one in years, BUT
we're going to get one. Was just waiting for the bigger house. I've kinda
been looking. I'll know it when it jumps out at me. I'm not picky, but I love
country and that's what I want. Something country & old looking.

Like me!

Memaw, I think they're one and the same. . . I call them hot pads or pot holders. You set it on your table or counter top. Then you set your hot pan or casserole dish on it and it protects your table/counter.

I think a true trivet used to be made out of wood or iron and had really short little legs on it. That kept a hot pan from sitting directly on the table or counter. Somewhere along the way people seem to have started using the name trivet for pot holders and hot pads. scratch

Call it what you like, it's a thing-a-ma-jig to set a hot pan on! Very Happy

I have wooden trivets I use for putting hot saucepans, pans, casseroles etc on. Had iron yrs ago but they get too hot themselves, one of my wood ones was a mothers day present a couple of years back and has a scottie dog etched into the surface, reminds me of my grandparents and their scottie dogs. Not sure what the fabric ones are called either, I have only heard them called hot pads myself but QBee your 'thing-a-ma-jig to set a hot pan on" description is spot on LOL!!!

SherBear a small table runner could be fun too, they could be done any style and just kept small. If we do most of our swaps just swapping with one other person then we could do all these ideas!!!! dance

So so far on our ideas list we have

* Candle Mats (felt/wool/fabric)
* Coasters
* Needle Cases
* Place Mats
* Pot Holders
* Hot Pads/trivets/thing-a-ma-jigs you put hot pots & pans on
* Table Runners
* Book Marks
* Travel Trays?
* Mini Quilts

What about book marks? Could be made like we do postcards simply using a scrap of cute fabric or if people want they could go fancier and do quilted/embroidered/appliqued etc. Whatever takes someones fancy. They could be made of felt/wool too come to think of itBearFoot makes these really cool woven looking ones.

Shall we run a couple at a time swap wise so we get through them? Different people might host each one if that is fine with everyone, share the job of hosting the swaps amongst us? If we are posting direct to our swapee that saves a lot of work. I guess if people want to swap with more than one person that might be able to be organised for each individual swap, I know some of you can make multiple items and like to swap with lots of people and some of us can only commit to one item at a time, just a thought. What do you all think?

We ciould make some travel trays from Anglie's bits and pieces. I made 2 and they are fast, fun and functional! I could use more!

Bookmarks sounds like fast and easy. I know I hacve seen a few patterns.
