PostSubject: Deep Mid-Winter QAL   Wed Nov 02, 2011 12:29 pm

This is a reincarnation topic for the winter 2010/2011 interest in a Quilt-Along using Beth Ferrier's Deep Midwinter quilt pattern. http://www.quilterslastresort.com/t1672-applewood-farm-s-dec-wall-quilt

The original plan was to start in March 2011, possibly after a swap of 3" blue squares (the pattern calls for something like 80+). There were at least 8 quilters interested who were collecting the then-free pattern as it was posted on the Applewood Farm webpage.

Here is the list of quilters who originally thought they'd want to make this quilt:

1. golo*
2. hummerlou
3. TxMaryQuilts
4. memaw4*
5. Gimpy Cat
6. betweens
7. FiberBabble
8. quiltermarynel
and
9. Jill (by proxy, who said "okay" before checking out what she was agreeing to!) lol!

*golo and memaw4 actually got as far as purchasing the fabric for the quilt. I wonder if it got used for something else??? Undesided

So, here it is again - now that we're almost past the fun part of the Christmas Tree Block Swap, memaw4 has reminded us that at one time we were almost organized enough to make this quilt together.

What say you? Shall we start cutting in January? Do we want to trade blue squares? Do we want to have a party on New Year's Day to kick off the project?

Discuss. winking

Nope it didn't... it is all sitting together with the pattern... I am not ready to start it yet...

Golo, not ready right now, or not ready for January?

I would like to to it. Probably won't get inspired unless I commit to this. I have a lot of blues so I think I would be good to go. I personally don't need a swap to get a good variety but will play along with what majority rules. I would even send someone some blues if they need it and not need a return.

I suppose Memaw was the one who volunteered my name...I just don't think I'd better commit at this time, maybe the next one. Unlike Memaw, who seems to have an abundance of time on her hands , I am getting a little overwhelmed with holiday planning.

Oh, sweet girlfriend! Do you always have to blame me for everything? I don't think I "volunteered" your name. I "might" have suggested your name though. Abundance of time? lol! Ha! Surley you gest? I get up every morning now and head down stairs to my "woman cave" where I sew for a few hours before I head back up and cook for de man! lol! You must of forgotten that he's home 24/7..... and so therefore I have "NO abundance" of time!

Jill, we are not even starting this until after Christmas. None of us has time right now. So maybe you can play in January. I hope, I hope, I hope.

Well, since it's after Christmas, I guess I'm back in...

Memaw, I didn't forget DH is home 24/7, it's one of those things that terrify me about DH retiring...

Hmmmm, you do have the garage or even better the basement!

My suggestion would be to change the lock and just lock it sometime while he's down there! Because I can promise you, he is gonna drive you up the wall and back down a million times a day!

Better yet, lock yourself in the sewing room and refuse to come out!

lol! lol! lol! lol!

hummerlou, the Deep Midwinter pattern was from last winter. The current one, Christmas Yet To Come, is a HUGE one. Thud

It's way more than I'm willing to take on.

Though that doesn't mean I'm not collecting the pattern as it's released... :hammer:
