PostSubject: Just hammer and thumb tacks   Mon Nov 21, 2011 7:16 am

A couple weeks ago DH put in a new cabinet floor under the sink. It is definitly a plus. But it is unfinished ply board and I decided to just put down vinyl /rubber back shelving stuff instead of painting...May paint when it is warmer. Well, the stuff wouldn't stay in place to enter trusty little hammer and thumb tacks. Worked great. They(whoever they are) must be making thumb tacks better because usually a hammer will flatten a thumb tack and ruin it. (yes past experience).
And I got a new little screw driver, this is for changing my sewing machine needle. The one that came with the machine is too hard to hang onto and a longer handle (for my use anyway) was needed.
AAAAHHH, the simple pleasures in life..... lol!

I have a little tool kit in my sewing room with my own tools. I consider it Stash 2 and it's my secret because if word were to get out that I had tools, well gee, I wonder who would get his grubby little fingers on it, and it would no long be mine!

My DH convinced himself, with absolutely no evidence, that he should do the household tool using around here. The result is that I have only the tools connected with my work. I tell him that either he must do those other jobs, or supply me with tools again. He always comes to me, however, when he needs a small/tiny screwdriver. So far (almost 32 years of marriage) he has been holding up his end of this.

It is funny that someone as "liberated" as I am ended with a definite MCP. Both he and my Dad (now gone) give lip service once in a while to the idea that females are competant, without really meaning it, but really keep a belief that guys should do all the heavy lifting and tool use.

Well I don't complain (much)about how many he has because at least he does know how to use them.

One of my wish lists was to have my own tool box with my own tools...nothing major just simple things that would be needed around the house. Well, my MIL got one for me and I have added a few things to it. DH has at least nine large tool bins full of tools...but where does he go when he needs a screw driver or hammer???? and then I find my tools laying about everywhere... Knuppel

You are lucky you can find them at all. Dad would "borrow" Mom's then put them into his tool cache. In fact, after I was on my own, Dad used my tools working on my house then 'forgot' and took them home with him. I told Mom I would not have a fight with my father, who had just done about 10 hours of hard work on my house, when I was at work, over the cost of a hammer.

Spray paint your tools florescent pink. I can spot my tools a mile away and they get left alone!

I should post pictures of DH's tools. Everything is in order, and I often think they're probably in alphabetical order. The main drives me crazy, but I will say that he takes good care of his things, never leaves clothes or newspaper on the floor, etc. I have my own tools and do not intend to use any of his. He probably checks them daily for fingerprints. hahaha

You only need your own tools if you have a DH who doesn't or won't fix anything in a reasonable length of time. I usually can't wait as long as he takes to "get to it". angry

The best tool in your toolbox for the jobs you can't or won't do yourself, is the phone numbers of local construction co., plumbers, etc. Call and get a few quotes (or just make them up winking ), leave them on the table where DH can see them. Problem solved. Job done.

lmao lmao lmao

I am probably the one with the most tools! I even bought to rolling tool chests and the workbench for the garage. Of course, that is all in storage until the end of next month when we once again have a garage to call our own. Love tools!!!!

Hummer....are you moving into a place?

Yes...tools are a must...

My Dad many years ago.....gave me a small tool box...marked on the outside... :Mom's tools, hands off!"
All my tools are engraved with that saying!.....lol
It is nice having my own tools...and one goes a missing...well.....it's easy to find.

DH has many, many tools.....so I have access to those as well...but I always, always..return them to their rightful place lol!

Alicia, yes we will be moving into our own apartment on December 21st. Our first real place in a long time. Since July we have been living in hotel suites while DH has been moving from one NASA facility to another. We are now settled here in the Houston area and will be moving to League City, TX next month. We are very excited to be able to be in our own place again with our belongings.

lmao lmao lmao I have a big tool box...but DH's is, oh my goodness, much bigger. He is a machanic and they need more tools. But today I wanted to put Casey's name on her new tag and he brought in a kit to do so with. It doesn't look as nice as he would have done, but her name is on it and THAT is what counts....RIGHT? clap :cowgirl:
