I am not sure I know the difference... but a hotpad can be decorative... used to put something hot on....... or use it to handle a hot pie out of the oven.... Made with batting or some heat resistance batting...

do you have to put anything special in the middle of it? I have heard of silver heat resistant stuff (never seen it in real life) so just wondering

I just finished making some and I used Insul-brite (I think that's the name and the spelling) along with a layer of batting. I've read that some people use two layers of the Insul-brite but when I tried it I thought it was too thick. If I have a dish that is too hot I just double up on the hot pads.

doubling up your batting should work... but if my hotpad is too pretty I just use it for decoration... Very Happy I do have insul-brite and will use it in mine...

If it is not too late to join, Cassie and I would like to sign up for this. Is it going to be an anything goes or is there going to be a theme?

NO! It's not to late. As far as I know, we aren't starting this until January sometime. The more, the merrier....... Glad your aboard.

I think it's gonna be sew much fun getting some new hot pot holders from so many different ladies. I have some of the insul-bright to use inside of mine, sew I'm ready to go!
