TopKnot
2012 New Year’s Day Mystery Quilt

Clues begin Sunday, Jan 1, at (about) 10:30 a.m. Pacific Time
All clues will be given in one day
Finished size 42” square

Fabric Requirements:
3/4 yd Dark
1 yd Medium
1 1/4 yd Light/Background

Notes about fabric choice:
- Dark & Medium need to contrast with one another; they’ll be touching
- Medium will be cut up most. Not suitable for stripes or directional prints. Busy or tone-on-tone may be best
- Dark is suitable for stripes or directional, though it’s not a requirement
- An additional 1/3 yd of Dark or Medium is suggested for the binding to complement the design

Before the fun begins:
Cut Medium and Dark fabrics into 2 1/2” strips (selvage to selvage)

Twisted Evil

Is this your design FB? I did one a few years back on NY day and it turned into a beautiful quilt.

Yep. I'm "hosting" a mystery tomorrow at the shop. I usually have some time between giving the clues, so I thought I'd share them here, too.

Embrace The Partial Seam

Sew a Light Gig to a M square, but only part-way. Look at the pretty picture:

Open and press. It doesn’t matter which way you press the seams, just be consistent. Make 16.

We interrupt this interrupted Mystery Quilt to say:

Holy *^%@!

Okay, sorry. It got cuh-razy at the class this afternoon! I'll still post the clues here, but I seriously need a big glass of wine or two and possibly some Alleve. Thud

Not only did the class run over a bit (it always does!), but BossLady gave the attendees a jump start on tomorrow's super sale - right before she left. So when the class started winding down, people started shopping. And shopping. And... oy. Three hours later I'm calling Mr. W. telling him I hadn't been abducted or anything Shocked

So. Um, yeah. Take the rest of the evening off lol!

I'll be back.

Gimpy, don't forget that you are perfectly entitled to take an hour or so a day just for you. You worked yourself into a Tizzy last year and we talked to you about that. It re-energizes you and will help you fight off colds and other ailments. Relaxing is vital to physical and mental health. Sewing for an hour beats going to a therapist for an hour.

Don't make me come down there....... Knuppel

FB, no problem on the interruption. Life does that and like Helen said, in cyber space, it's all good. Hope you get to rest soon.

Okay, I'm confused already. scratch On those "gigs" aren't they supposed to be flipped already? The last picture with the partial seam, it shows it sewn but not flipped. Help!

Not doing this right now but just want to know that I have the instructions right before I begin, someday.

About the picture for the partial seam... what I'm trying to show is the back side of the gig laying on top of the M square. The gig for purposes of the picture is semi-transparent. The big deal is that the square is below the portion of the gig that has the diagonal seam (and the seam's going in that direction).

Better? This one did end up being more hands-on than my previous mysteries...
