I finally just looked at all the quilt patterns... I am making the quilt because my DH use to work the rr... I was going to do Mulligan Stew, but now I think DH would prefer Ridin the Rails... so I will be making that one too....

We could all decide what quilt we wanted to make, state that on here, then when it came our month to pick, we'd know what blocks to pick from. Just an idea.

I just didn't want everyone feeling they had to make "Riding The Rails" because I was going to drop out. My reason was, I don't want to be making blocks I don't plan to use in my quilt. The same with picking blocks for YOU to make that YOU aren't going to use in your quilt. I feel that's a waste of time and fabric. JMHO

I hope I haven't upset or made anyone mad at this point. It wasn't what I meant at all to do. If I did, then I'm truely sorry.

That sounds great to me or we could just make our quilts and post them on this site. Either way we go.

I wonder if one of those hobo symbols means "If you're nuts, come on in"??? The way it's been at the office today, I'm ready to look around outside for special markings on our building.

Could the symbol blocks in "riding the rails" be swapped out to your favorites, not necessarily have to be the blocks the book chose to showcase? Riding the rails sure is an adorable quilt...tempting!

It looks like we have two threads going for this quilt...one is Hobo quilt and one is History (hobo) quilt.

I am trying to get fabric chosen for different projects, dividing up my stash. I have very little that will work with this quilt so poor me I had to go shopping, not that anyone had to twist my arm.
I bought 24 cuts, most long quarters (Joanns wont cut FQ's) and bought lots of homespun. They had no solid Homespun and I will dig around in my stash for that. This should get me started.
Used my 15% off coupon and total only came to 31.00. Two of the cuts were bigger remnants

The shirtings on the lower right I'm going to tea die to match the rest better.

The one under swaps was moved over here. I am trying to deleted that one so we do not get confused. This is a BOM ( block of the month) some people want to do a certain quilt, but will still pick two blocks for a month to be made.

When I am at Joanns I try to judge how many yds are one the bolt. and ask for a less, so they end up with less then a yd left. That way they will offere me a discount on the remained left. And of course I take it. lol

Sorry you had to go shopping to get more fabric.

Ohhh, CC you have some gorgeous fabrics there. I love homespuns. So country to me and I love country! I'm going to DD's in May to help her do some spring cleaning, and I plan to go to Hobby Lobby and pick up some more fabrics for my Hobo quilt. They have some beautiful fabrics too.

I was at Joanns today and picked up a yard of Easter fabric for 1/2 price. Not bad. I already have a wall hanging in mind for it. BUT, not until I get all those UFO's finished. That's the rule and I'm sticking to it this year.

I made up a block the other day too Red...I made Bad Dog....although it was not on the list of error corrections it didn't come out right (maybe operator error : / )
Nice thing about these blocks....You could just make the blocks as you like...look at the symbols and wing it. You can't do it "wrong"

CC, that was the block I made. I've been working on the blue Courthouse scrappy today and apparently have buried the block in them somewhere. I used a dark green ticking and a rusty stripe.

Where can we find the corrections? I'm planning on sticking to the Courthouse this week so may not try another block right away.

I used a jet black stripe and a green black check for the body.
Did you have trouble with the bad dog block, or was it operator error? : / Should we add it to the corrections list?

I guess we should publish the corrections on this thread, Maybe post it at the beginning.
Polksa will have to do that....for now I can just copy and paste the corrections I have:

Well, yes, I had a little trouble getting the stripes just right. I sewed 2 long strips together, cut across, sewed, added one outside one. I cut wider on the last one, then trimmed. The inner blocks come out rectangular, then the red border evens it up.

All fabric has been washed, some ironed, all rolled and put in a project basket. So I'm ready to go in July, or was it June.

June is when it starts. I found some flannel I am going to use for my blocks. I have already picked the blocks for June. Look for your month to pick blocks and think about which ones you want to pick. You can let me know any time.
