I'm planning to get caught up this week. Well, maybe next week. Now that the wee darlings are in school. Gotta get July and August done. Love your blocks.

Got my July and August blocks done. I like the quilt, the book and the mistakes are the pits. It clearly states the graphs include seam allowances but they often don't.

Polska? You ok?

Page 76.. you will notice they ask for two small squares... if you look at the pattern you only need one...

What 1/8 measurement you talking about CC? Beautiful blocks BTW.

I've been using a 1/4" seam. I'm not gonna do these things over! I'll just make extra if need be....

Ya know, 3 1/8, 4 5/8, 1 7/8, 5 3/8. I made the blocks for Barbara Brachman's Civil War quilt along. The blocks were 8 inches so most of the instructions are in 1/8 inch increments.

I did the whole set (56) but there was some ripping an cussing at first.

Royalties: they should recall the book and fix it. Or ask the person who wrote it to pay them back all royalties.

All books have errors, IMHO. I have caught errors in teacher's edition math books. They are annoying and, in the case of quilting books, often waste fabric. You might email the publisher your specific findings and your annoyance with them. If I use someone else's pattern, I generally check their math before I start because I am not at all trusting. This is one of the major reasons I design my own patterns. Many designers, such as Marcia Holmes of www.quilterscache.com tell you who did their pattern testing for them. I am more reassured when I know someone has done that. If you are buying a book, you might look at the acknowledgments to see if this was done.

I got a list of errors and corrections from the publisher so they are very much aware of errors. Is this a new one someone found?

Pretty sure there are more errors than listed....I did go through my book and mark the errors right on those pages.
I'm still all in all enjoying this BOM...its going to be a handsome quilt if I ever get enough blocks done. I'm having trouble focusing. At the rate of two blocks a month it will take several years...i need to pick up the pace. Just dont feel much like sewing these day.

Hope to get more of mine done this week . All the Island things are finished. I do have a dress I'm making for one of the employee's though.

But the October clothes are ALL DONE! Or at least all that I'm doing......

This lady is done till January 1st. Too much to get done before my surgery. And then 6 wks. recovery time, which throws it into the holidays....... yes, I'm through for this year anyway.

I'm glad you aren't pressuring yourself with loads of stuff right before the surgery.

With my hours at work, its hard to get focused long enough to sit and sew. But I did try and get some work done on a block, just kept looking at all the small pcs. Thinking...my sewing machine doesn't want small right now, so how can I do this a different way??? I think I have it figured out, just have to see if my plan works.

Just preparing some foods for hubby to add to the crock pot or oven. Also gathering up items to work on while I'm off my feet. Just small things. Place mats, quilt blocks (BOM's) things like that. I'll bring my machine upstairs and have it in my bedroom to sew on. I plan to get those UFO's all finished.

Bratt will be sew proud! lol!

I'll just be sew GLAD!
