I just went and checked out this Hobo quilt book on Amazon.com, and they start out new for $13.90 and go up! I just may buy one myself and get in on this. If I don't make it now, then maybe later.

My dad worked on the railroad all his life and I grew up living beside the tracks. I've seen my share of "hobo's" in my lifetime. We even fed a few of them! I realize now they were today's homeless back then.

The adjoining county to us is having a "Quilt Crawl". They are showcasing antique quilts at various locations and there is a local train museum that is featuring the Hobo quilt. I am going to do my best to go and will try to take pictures for y'all if I do.

I can only do it if the Hobo quilt is make your own. Because I am living off of my savings and still looking for work and not finding any. Just a bummer.
Have you looked at the library or at Joann's for the book.(this week there books are 50% off if you have a coupon.

I am using fabric I have on hand as I am also out of work for over a yr now. No more EDD pmts coming in. I have enough fabric on hand so should have no problem. (Might look like a sissy quilk...lol..not manly, but oh well...)

I had a typing test done to get certif. a few wks ago. Applied for dispatch at Sherrifs office, I have done dispatch at cable. Got a email from John Muir hospital about a job and I applied for it. Normally I get a reply saying thanks........but this one said my qualifications matched and they would get back to me, but still generic email.
Today I applied at local grocery store and Taco Bell. I am not to proud. If I work at Taco Bell, I would still continue to look else where, but at least I would be working.

Good luck Polska and Redwork, hope you both find work. I never had a problem doing anything either, as far as I was concerned as long as it was an honest days work with an honest days pay Id do it. Ive cleaned houses and holiday appts, caravan park ammeneties blocks, grocery stores, worked at grocery stores, painted, floor sanded, grouted, escorted trail rides, picked beans & zucchini, whatever pays. Wishing you both the best of luck in finding a job that you enjoy and get treated well in. Same wishes for Harris Very Happy

Yes , good luck with the job from me too Polska. Times are hard I guess . Seen on the news here the other day where the Gov is thinking of bringing in thousands more migrants because Australians think too many jobs are beneath them . We have too good an unemployment scheme is the problem . Doesn't encourage any one to " have " to work . I always say that we would be in a helluva state if we were all rocket scientists ! as Gimpy said .....an honest days work for an honest days pay . So long as it pays the bills . Not to say that we wouldn't all like one that payed well !! LOL

Sounds like the USA Henny. People over here don't wanta work either! Well, not the little jobs like Taco Bell, McDonolds. Places like that. They wanta start out making the BIG bucks. Don't want to start at the bottom like we had to and work their way to the top. They want it all right now. Same way with most married couples. Want the big fancy house and all the trimmings right from the get go. They find out they can't afford it and it ends in DIVORCE.

Thanks to all for wishing me luck in finding a job. I do 30 cold calls a week and I am not getting anything. The jobs that in the paper I could do but they want someone with 2 year college degree which I do not have or they want someone who type 65 words a minute.
So unfair.
I hope that someone calls you Polska and Harris
Thanks again

Well what the heck I bought the book...sign me up!

Does the CD come with the book? I'm thinking no as I didnt read CD in the book description on Amazon. The link Polska posted at Connecting threads is coming up empty...must be sold out.
FYI....you can pick up a used copy of the book on Amazon for half the price. Mine should arrive Saturday as they had a "fufilled by Amazon" with Prime membership two days free shipping.
(more money for fabric Thumbup )
