Excellent Golo......I did manage to get mine sandwiched and basted after all. I'm not in a quilting sort of mood. I've got bags on my mind. I made a simple zippered change purse yesterday now I want to go out and buy a thousand zippers, I've got all kinds of ideas brewing. Unfortunatly I'm still car - less. Maybe I'll make the binding today and leave the quilting to another day.

That is adorable ladybug fabric!!
How do you go about machine quilting? I've been starting in the center...do all my sashing then go back and fill in the individual blocks.....mind you all i've done is stich in the ditch with a ltttle flourish on the ends, I notice you have quilted the sashing, it looks great. I can't tell from my monitor but is that like a meander or a pattern? I see the sashing as a area of error for me, with folding material if I do that....I bought a template narrrow enough to fit in the sashing but chickened out.

CC, it is meandering...I started in the center star and worked across to the other two and down catching some of the border and all of the sashing... when I finished three rows then I turned the quilt and did the other two rows that were left and then finished the borders... there is no batting in this quilt and the backing is fleece.... this one went together really nice and was a real joy to work on because it was so bright.... It is definetely one of favorite quilts...

I see Breezy has gotten her quilt finished and in the Group Album, excellent job Breezy, Don't you just love cornerstones!
I finished my second half lap quilt. I made this one just a touch longer and this was my first attempt of marking and machine quilting a fancy border.

Calico Chris and Breezy just love both your finished quilts you both chose such different colours but they are simply wonderful... I am trying this month to finish the couple of blocks I got behind but to be honest I have never tried to put blocks together without having followed a pattern so I might just keep peeking :peek: in the album for ideas. :)

Golo...thats not a wall...thats my carpet. I know its a bad picture...quilts are almost as long as the room. They are both just thrown.. one on each of my two couches in my family room.
Pookie...iu've never put blocks together without sashing....something I really need to learn to do but the sashing is like a safety buffer I think....gives you fudging room. one thing I almost did but was rushed on first one due to holiday is to make the cornerstones into stars which would look awesome on this quilt.

Pookie,
I forget who chose rising star block but it is one of my favorites of all the star blocks. Now that my two quilts are finished I'm really gettting a chance to really look at the blocks. My eye always goes to that block.

I love your colors, your block really pops.....I'm hoping someday to do a purple quilt. I keep petting it at the LQS...I need a grandaughter, I have no purple rooms here.
