Christmas-themed, called Snowy Noel. This is the designer who did the BOM I borrowed from when my crayon adventures began. Woo-Hoo!!!

(Here's the Hallowe'en block I did)

Here's the link to the new one!

OH,  Thanks Tracy.  Again, I really wasn't sure.  BTW.... I love the one you did. It's beautiful.

Crayons?   Your not quilting them then or what?   It's early and my pea size brain isn't understanding.   Undesided

Memaw, I use crayons and then quilt around the picture, like applique. Depending on what technique I use, my crayon quilts are washable. (The kitty one isn't!)

I didn't know there was more than one way to do a crayon quilt. Does it have something to do with the bright color on this one? When I experimented with crayons, my colors weren't very bright and I did not care for it.

Never heard of this type or technique of quilting before Tracy.  Is there someplace I can go and read all about it?  I'd love to learn more.

Thanks Tracy. I do read your blog and did read those articles. I guess maybe I just didn't color enough. I will have to try this again sometime and add more layers of color. Not liking my coloring, I never got to the black thread stage which might have helped set off the color.

TxM, the black really does help. But a few of my newer pieces don't use black (the pink and a couple of the pinkeepers). I never thought about how "heavy" I colour, but looking at it, I do put a lot of crayon down. The backgrounds usually get a light touch, though. Remember that I use white muslin, so any background to the 'applique' is coloured, too.

I've got natural-coloured muslin now, so I'm going to start a new chapter/experiment. I'm hoping that white will 'pop'. White is difficult!!

Tracy,  I went through all of them and they all were so helpful. Carol had a wonderful one and I loved all of the things she had made.  I loved the way you showed the difference between Wal Mart brand crayons and Crayola brand.

Made me wanta go straight to the sewing room and start going thru all my patterns!  A lot of my applique patterns are big and can be matched up to make wall~hangings or table~toppers!   I guess it's now time to go and buy that new box of Crayola crayons!

Thanks again for taking the time to give us all the info on this.

Tracy,
Oh yes I think I will have a couple! I've been playing around with my crayons today.
I made a couple of test pieces for practice. On the first one I used a fine sharpie but
when I ironed it the sharpie bled so it ruined the picture. So I have a beer can chicken
on the grill and while it's cooking I will print out another practice pieces on printable fabric.
Hope the sizing isn't going to be a problem! What do you use to trace your picture?

I took a class on coloring with colored pencils and like that but I do like the darker colors you
can get with crayons. I have absolutely no drawing abilities at all! I'm not even very good at
shading but I'm stubborn!

I'll let you know how it goes.

I use a Frixion pen to trace my patterns, Linda. I also suggest using just a plain ol' pencil. You'll be colouring or stitching over the lines, so no worry about them showing.

(Iron the muslin to freezer paper, put it over your picture and trace.)

I have, however, used the extra fine point sharpies for highlights/light outlining AFTER pressing to remove the wax.
