PostSubject: Re: Welcome to The Quilter's Last Resort   Tue Feb 03, 2015 5:17 pm

Hello, and thank you for the welcome. My name is Diana and currently live in Texas, although my husband and I will be moving back to Ohio in the late spring early summer this year. Hubby retired a couple of years ago and wanted to give Texas a try, but it is just too far from our daughter and grandsons. Plus there are health concerns on his part, he is a pancreatic cancer survivor for the past 6 years, so really need to be back around family. I am mostly self taught at quilting, the last quilt I did was the one in my avatar that was donated to raise money for veterans. Otherwise mainly only make them to give to family and friends. Besides quilting, I also knit, cross stitch, and a little scrapbooking. I love to bake, especially around the holidays and enjoy trying out different recipes when I can manage to have the time. From Jan through April though I am very busy as my job is a taxpreparer, and usually work 45 + hours a week so not much time for anything else. So please forgive me if I am not online much during that time. I do check in and look around for a few min in the morning before leaving though. Looking forward to chatting and learning new tips and hopefully passing on a little of what I can share. Diana

Welcome to the forum Diana, we are so very glad you stopped by and introduced yourself, it totally makes our day when someone does, thank you Very Happy Its wonderful to meet you, sounds like you will fit in around here, many of knit, cross stitch, scrapbook and enjoy baking & cooking. One of our members has just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Im glad to hear how well your husband has done. Quite a few live in Texas and Ohio both, we are all over the place, a few of us in Australia, Canada & Spain. Your job would keep you very busy during tax time, knowing its your busy time makes it even better that you stopped to say hello. There are a couple of new members who joined recently so you arent alone, besides, we were all new once. I remember the first time I ever posted on a forum, took me about 2hrs to work up the nerve to do it hahaha Your avatar is beautiful, very nice and I bet someone loves it now, again, a lot of the ladies here make or quilt quilts for veterans so you are in good company. I think most of us are self taught too, Ive been quilting since about 2000 and Im all self taught, there is a great combined knowledge bank here, usually someone knows something about an issue, its wonderful.

Anyway, Im Helen, you will see me around here usually posting as Gimpy Cat, sometimes as Admin when Im doing the housework for the forum as I think of it. I live on the island state of Australia, its south of the mainland, Tasmania. Been here 7yrs, best thing we ever did was leave the mainland. DH is a high school teacher now days, I imported him from the states, we met and married in Savannah, Georgia, I lived there for a year and he has been living down under for 16yrs. I have two kids and now days 4 kitties. The new school year just started here so I have the first free day in over 6 weeks, yahoo, I get to try restoring the house to cleanliness after the summer break!

If you need a hand finding your way around or we can help in any way, dont be shy, just ask, everyone will be pleased to help and may chat your ear off too, we like meeting new friends!
