I haven'
t said anything because we just got done with Christmas in July but I always enjoy this. I am in.

As far as suggestions, we could do theme like kitchen, which could include anything from aprons, potholders, napkins, placemats, tablerunners and mugrugs? We did a mini Christmas quilt swap one year. That was fun! Or just gifter's choice - which works too!

Each person could pick a theme or part of the home they would like to have something for and Alicia could put it next to their name on the list. Then the Santa's could make something in that theme or for a part of the home.

Nice idea Linda. Then we would know we were making something our person wants but still get to be creative.  Thumbup

Looking for suggestions everyone.  I'm updating suggestions and those signing up in my first post on page one.

Throw some suggestions out there!

Everyone you know you want to sign up!!!
Suggestions:

1.  TXMary:  I like the idea of mug rugs. And maybe add something related, ie; tea bags, cookies, a mug... something that   would be a surprise.
Could challenge ourselves and make them double sided maybe?

2.  Linda2B:  Each person could pick a theme or part of the home they would like to have something for and Alicia could put it next to their name on the list. Then the Santa's could make something in that theme or for a part of the home.

3.  Golo:  How about pillow covers? Pick a size and only send the cover not the pillow...

4. Gimpy: Perhaps if its going to be guided gifting then there could be a choice of say three things that fit the bill? For example

1. mug rugs
2. table runner/wall hanging
3. cushion cover

Some people may not enjoy making/receiving one item but might happily like another, also the other thing that comes to mind is I think we would still need to include the purchased gift option, some people want to join but may not have the time nor feel comfortable with their sewing skills to make something. They run the risk of being left out or feeling that they cant join

Pillow covers are neat.....I'd really use those. Easy to mail for those far away as well. Also mug rugs....always love them for my sewing room, but tend not to use them other places in the house.

I would like pillow cases, but that's only because I want to make 2 Christmas ones for myself and never get around to it.  cry2  This really isn't an idea. I actually like all of the ideas. You could submit the room you would like and give Alicia the name of the rooms and some color ideas.

I just looked at the Christmas 2013 gallery. I saw the photos of Alicia's gift from JennQT. You just saw the photos of the lovely gift I received from JennQT. Hmmmmm....I saw no rule about bribing the moderator to make sure Jenn got my name.

that reminds me, mum finished decorating her laundry recently and I got a photo finally of the neat doll she received from Breezepines for the Dec 2013 swap. Take a close look, she is made from a mop, how cool is she? Perfect for mum to decorate her laundry and again Bonnie, she says thank you so much, she loves her "Bonnie Mop Girl" !!

I'm in...

I love this idea below...I have a gorgeous one from Fiberbabble with a cup holder to match I don't use it but it is on display with my favorite cup that someone else had made me so I need one that I can use. Our guild is currently having a competition on mug rugs we are all making new ones to celebrate our new venue for our meeting. I will be posting the pictures on our Web page for anyone to vote on which one they like. the site will be www.rvqg.com

OM Gimpy I have one similar to your moms packed away to hang in my new home in SC.
Mine is more of a Christmas Angel. I usually hang it every year! My mom's best friend who
passed some time ago gave it to me. So it is very special! I just love mine!

Ok, I'm in. Only because I have some things made already. In the winter I like my favorite teapot and mug. Tea cosy? A mug rug big enough for the teapot? Is it going to be just one thing everybody makes or what your swappee would most like?

my 2cents...if this is the case that is stated by Gimpy why not leave as to each her/his own, this way you can make what you are good at or "buy" what you think is suitable for the giftie.
We can leave the specific's for specific swaps, Christmas is always a surprise package we can still be surprised

What I think....
I don't want to be guided to make a gift and I don't want to make a selected item(These are for swaps.). I want to pick like Betweens says, something I think is suitable for the recipient. But I don't mind a little generic direction, like room, color or theme that the recipient might like. This leaves us open to make something we are good at and that our recipient will like. We can have the swappers add more nformation to their like/dislike posts and then the SS can choose to use the info or not.

This is pretty much like we've always done it right?   I agree with this.  We can give out as much information as we want or that needs to be given and the person who has our name can go with that.  It has always seemed to work in the past.   If your person wants to add something more special, then that's entirely up to them.  Its NOT that I don't LOVE all the ideas that everyone submitted, because I sure did.  Its just that I'd rather surprise my SS with a gift she has no clue what it will be.    We can swap these items anytime.  If I already know what I'm getting, it won't be much of a surprise.....and isn't that the whole idea?

I agree also with Linda and Kay. If you put parameters on the gift, it's a swap, not an exchange.
