PostSubject: Friendship Quilt Signup, Vote, and Information 2015   Sun Dec 28, 2014 2:55 am

I think I've totally confused myself.... LOL I'm going to shut down the vote until we get more ideas/suggestions from everyone.

Suggestions:

Names, Year, Location

Theme:  Holiday, Season??

Scrappy Block
Star Block-with Colors assigned

Scrappy Star Block

Both Blocks: TXmary's Scrappy Block and Anita's Star Block but do it Scrappy

Black used for names etc.

Size of Blocks?

Background color?

Mailing: Everyone ok with mailing out to everyone yourselves? We can always work something out for those that are outside of the states to possibily mail to one person and have that person include with their mailings.....maybe send a little extra $ to help cover cost?? Ideas?

Anita's Idea:  http://www.quilterscache.com/A/AutographStarBlock.html

TXMary's Idea:  http://www.quilterscache.com/S/SignatureBlock.html

Have some questions, is it going to be scrappy, size of block, color used where it's to be signed, what all put on with signature. Do you send one to each person on the list ( one block each ) ????

I liked the idea of each person doing a different color. I really liked the star block I posted. Not sure I would do the other.

I'm easy....whatever everyone decides. I do like name and location on the blocks. If we go scrappy, I don't see the point of assigning colors....if it's truly scrappy the fun will be combining what everyone comes up with!

But...like I said....whatever ya'll decide works for me.

I can go either way with the colors as long as i can do a light or bright, i just don't see well enough to do drab or dark anymore

I redid the vote to include the ability to vote for to do both blocks.

The star block would be my first choice as I'm partial to stars, but I'd be into doing both blocks!

Hi Norma,

I'm looking for suggestions from everyone before we set what we're doing.

I think it would be fun if it's scrappy, we all have that on hand.

I'd have no problem doing both. As for the rest, ya'll decide then let me know. I prefer scrappy and see how it comes out. It won't let me vote again.

Put me in and I might know a couple more people interested when it's all figured out and we know for sure what we are to do.Is it going to be one or two squares for each person on the list??

I'm wondering what the estimated completion will be, seeing that some of us are also involved in the summer theme mystery quilt.

I think doing the star pattern in scrappy fabrics would be really pretty.... no one mentioned background... I think a cream would work nice with any color... mailing them out ourselves works well... signing in black at the bottom of the block or along the contour of the star would look nice... I really enjoy seeing the names on the blocks.. This should be really fun to do...

Golo, that's a great idea! Scrappy star block!

I agree mailing out ourselves works good. For those out of the States maybe you could mail to one person and have them send out your blocks in their mailings and send a little $ for postage.

I think I'm being to confuse myself here..... LOL........

There's so many possibilities for this Friendship Quilt!

I'm really liking the scrappy star idea Golo has suggested.

What is everyone's thoughts on doing both blocks and making them scrappy?

Sewn, no worries on asking. We're still trying to work out the details.

Looking for suggestions from everyone.

I personally think putting names, year and location is great info to have on swap blocks

If we make both blocks; tell you what. When I get home I'll stitch up a sample of both blocks so we can all see the effect.

In the past we have mailed our blocks to each participant, that seemed to work well.

I like seeing the online name, location, and year.

Scrappy is a good idea, that way no one has to go out and buy fabric so close after the holidays. Can use what we have on hand. Cream/ off white backgrounds always work well. Screen name, real name, location and year are great info to see. Truly makes it a friendship quilt.

For anyone in Oz who would like to send all their blocks to me to re-send, I would be happy to do that for you. I could gather them all up and send them all at the same time to save a bit of postage.

Helen, why isn't your name on the list?
