Hi, just wondering if anyone here has ever done any felting, made any of the little animals or figures etc you see made using the felting process? Im curious about it but know nothing, state library only had 3 books on it so Ive requested them, I know there will be info online but thought Id ask here first.

Also thought we needed a section on the forum where we can have topics about other crafts like knitting, crochet etc so go ahead and start topics and help get it up and running. Do you scrapbook or journal, macrame, make jewellery? What other crafts do you do?

My sister in law does felting.

Other than the embroidery.....sewing/quilting is my crafting passion.

I've bought a couple of starter felting kits but haven't tried them yet!

I would like to make some of the darling pincushions I see but they are a bit pricey.

Oh I didnt think of starter kits, that might be an idea, Im waiting on the library books to get here so I check out what tools are needed etc and price them. Enough sheep and alpacas around here to felt to the moon and back, gotta be someone around here who felts!

I have done felting and really enjoy it. Making figures is the easiest. You use a tool with needles sticking out (watch your fingers) and poke, poke, poke which makes the wool cling to itself. I have made a chick with a bunny hat on and he has colored eggs. I also made a realistic owl, and two rabbits. It is fun and doesn't take long. There is also wet felting. You use wool, water, soap and friction to make the wool hold together in a material. I made a beanie hat that came out way too big and had a small hole. But the colors were absolutely beautiful so I kept it and will use it for something. I also felted over a silk scarf and that came out really interesting. I ordered all my supplies on line because I couldn't find what I need in craft stores.

Never tried it. What I do these days is just quilting and embroidery.
