Marynel I totally missed these posts, you have a good idea and Linda's idea of each member designing a row is great. Like you Im sure many are over winter but we could still look at this project idea, perhaps when its summer and hot some will be happy to work on wintery designs?

Who would be interested in taking part? Your row design could be pieced or appliqued, who's game? If we did rows that were no more than the width of fabric it would make backing easy when the top is finished. What if we set the row width at say 30"? That would be a good size to create wintery rows and decent size when hung or displayed.  Row height could be determined by each person as some designs may be smaller than others and height wont matter as long as we have width sorted.  What do you think?

That sounds like fun to me. Probably by summer I will be more caught up with things. On my row, the trees are easily paper pieced and the snowman appliqued. I might enlarge it to a snow family,

Thank you. I love to do trees that way, but we don't all enjoy the same skill sets.

How wide do you think the rows should be? I thought perhaps 30" but what do you think?

30" would leave room for borders and still have a single piece back.

thats what I thought but didnt want you to think I was trying to be bossy lol!

So 30" it is and if not many join us we can design multiple rows right?!!!

Hmmmmm, I love winter, can think of lots of row ideas.

that sounds good to me, for the reasons given.
Most of my ideas have to do with snowpeople engaged in winter sports.

So I am slow. Explain this more carefully please. This would involve designing a row? Just design and make one row for ourselves? Make rows for others? Share the design with others?

I feel like a kid whining "are we there yet?" Thud

Nope you dont sound like that at all, confusion reigns around here, so its a normal state to feel that way.

Ok, so what we are planning is that each person will design a row, doesnt matter how high it is as long as its 30" long. It can be applique, pieced, I guess even embroidered (?). Then we will share the designs with the others who have joined in and each person will make their own row for their own quilt. Its going to mean gluing or taping some paper together to get the length depending what style you choose to use when designing your row and then we will have to post our rows to each other, others like Marynel who use software I guess would be able to email their design? Is that right Marynel?

If not many join us we might want to design a couple of rows each. Thought it might be fun to do our own version of the row by row thing the quilt stores do where each one designs a row to be collected. Is that clear as mud? hi5

no time soon on the deadline. Really all we have to do is design our rows, perhaps mid summer for all of you in the northern hemisphere when you are yearning for a cold winters day?

This sounds like so much fun but the swap has my stress level high enough to sit this one out and wait for the next project

Sewn we're not even starting this until mid summer like Helen said. Plenty of time to finish those autograph blocks and if you don't want to design I'm sure we would share our patterns with anyone who want them. I know I will. Plenty of time to think about it!

No Pressure, not here, not ever, just fun!

Sewn the beauty of this one is you dont have to make lots of blocks for other people, you just have to draft, draw or computer design a row for a quilt and share your design. How simple is that?
