I posted the tree in my album. These are tall trees because they were a part of my barn block quilt. Print them whatever size you want. If needed, I can resize them easily enough. BTW, the guild just decided that my barn block quilt will be our 2017 opportunity quilt.

I think of winter as winter as well my Pandora bracelet is all about winter nothing that is Christmas no tree, but there are mittens, snow flakes, penguin, I guess I can look at the bracelet and get ideas. I love winter but not crazy about the Christmas season would rather celebrate new years...

QMN- congrats!! you are so creative the guild is very lucky to have you!!

Id rather have a straight winter quilt too, dont like having xmas hanging about in June, July & August!
We have lots of penguins here in tassie but come in Sept in large numbers and there are less come winter. Snowflakes, mmmm, warm fies, mittens and scarves, cosy snow covered cabins, trees caked in snow - I love winter lovehearts lovehearts lovehearts

I just resized the trees.  Note that each tree is made is a series of layers, then sewn together.  The smaller trees just have fewer layers.   there are several trees, each 4" wide finished, with a space in the middle area for a snowman (or even a snow family).  I'll redo that another day.

snow people background widtgh is 10 1/2" raw size.  I am lousy at embellishing in my quilt program.  I leave that up to you, friends. The trees finish at 10" high. (I originally made them bigger, but 10" tall is easier for printing.)

so 5 units of trees at 4" finished is 20" then the snowman block would have to be enlarged to 10" finished to make the 30" row we need. Does that sound right? How tall are your blocks Marynel?

My original trees were quite a bit taller and wider because I was thinking of a  wider body for the quilt top.  Of course, the user may decide how tall each individual tree should be.  (3 branch units, 4, 5, 6?)  Since all but the top units are identical. parts are interchangeable.

If you are daring, you could do a mommy snow person shooting pictures of daddy and kids snow people.

The larger blocks would still be great for a border around the quilt when it is all together!!

Just bringing this forward

when do you want to swap these rows? Sept/Oct/ We will swap these by thanksgiving, end of Nov so you have them for your winter? Gives us all time to design and make a row so we can share the design and a photo of ours made.

Using Linda's idea, so far we have, row design wise

Redmadder - snowy log cabin mountains
Linda2B - cardinals with holly and snow
Marynel - fir trees, snowman and snow (paper pieced)
TxMary -
Betweens -
Golo -
Gimpy Cat -

we can fill it in as people create theirs, but you dont have to, you can have your row a surprise which is just as much fun. Mine is a surprise because I havent decided what to do yet, yikes!!

yes, you design your row and then make it, take a photo of your completed row and post it on here when the time comes and you send copies of your pattern design to the everyone else

I'd better start writing up the directions. My row is made and appears now and then as I sort the mess after painting the workshop. Elusive thing.
