MMMmmmmmmmmm they all sound yummy, I have made one with cranberries and orange before, a thanksgiving recipe Lolo shared with me some years back, it was delicous.

Just curious, I only use real butter, wont use margarine, just wondering, what does everyone else use? Im lucky, I use a local tasmanian brand made on a farm not far from us.

I get my butter (not margarine) from a little store that the Mennonite's run....I think that it actually comes from a nearby Amish community.... anyway it comes in a two pound roll.

sounds yummy! I prefer to use as much stuff that is natural and chemical free, everything in moderation is the key I stick to. I buy mine usually in a pound but you can get 1/2lb packs too, it comes cut in a square block wrapped in paper

rarely gets hot enough here in tassie to need refrigeration. I keep it in the pantry, its cool and dark in there mostly anyway. I dont like the taste of canola oil much apart from the GM issues with it. I have only ever cooked with olive oil and you can get olive oil spread here, its not so bad

I cook only with olive oil unless I'm baking sweet cakes,
I made two batches of butters for my DD;s shower, one was cinnamon/mace/clove for the zucchini and banana breads and garlic/parsley for the semolina sesame bread

Yep, EVOO can be a bit much for cake but the lighter ones are fine, our local organic olive oil do 4 single varieties & one of them is very buttery in favour, not grassy, fruity or peppery, tempted to try that for baking, they use it.

No canola in our house either but I do have rice bran oil. Hard to avoid GM insufficient labelling!

I use butter all the time when cooking. But in my cookies I use shortening...sometimes half shortening and half butter.
When I was in the hospital this last time the respiratory unit was havine a pot luck and they invited me to come. One of them, made the most delicious honey butter, with cinnamon.
