I'm listening to Skullduggerry Pleasant on audio. A YA novel, it's got sorcerors and magic and a 12-year-old girl in it. It's a fun book and it's made me LOL more than once.

But the real draw is the reader's voice: It's like a warm bed on a cold winter night. Mmmmmm.

I just finished 2: Nevada Barr's latest - "Destroyer Angel" - excellent. I was put off by her last few books, but this one was a page turner! And Lisa Scottoline's "Accused" - one of her lawyer series - it was good too.

I am reading In My Heart's Own Blood, latest in the Outlander series, very good. Glad she seems to stay consistent with the quality of the books through the whole series. Even though it takes a long time between books, it is worth it. Also on the kindle I am reading another JoJo Moyes. She is usually quite good.

Cindee,  besides the Bible,  mystery novels are ALL I read or listen too on CD.    I listen to them when I sew.  Nevada Barr is a good author.   I have a longggggggg list of authors and their book series.  As I read the series I mark them off.   The ones I read I usually get FREE on my Nook.  I sometimes buy one for less than $2.00, but not very often.   I like FREE.....

There are some really good Christian mystery writers out there too......

Just finished "Still Life with Bread Crumbs" by Anna Quindlen. Easy read, Good story but not sure I like how she jumps around from one character to another.

I just finished Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan, an alternate-history set on the eve of the first world war. I guess you'd call it steampunk (whatever that is). It's a YA title. Book 1 of a series. Now that I'm typing this, I need to remember to get the next book... brb...aaaand, now it's downloaded from my library and ready to put on my iPod. (I love technology)(most of the time) pcangst

Before that was one of Robert B. Parker's Spenser novels, Painted Ladies. I consistently enjoy these, and having Joe Mantegna "read them to me" on audio doesn't hurt. coolsmiley This one didn't have Hawk in it.  Am I the only one that remembers the TV series?

Currently I'm on One Foot in the Grave, by Jeaniene Frost. It's book 2 in a series and I remember really, really enjoying book 1. I can't exactly recall why I liked #1 so much, but it was memorable enough for me to be happy about getting book 2! Vampires, of the non-sparkly sort.

I read the second Jeaniene Frost book in one day. I laughed, I cried. I have books 4-6 downloaded and am on the waiting list for #3.

I moved on to an anthology of short stories compiled by George RR Martin, called something like Down These Mean Streets. I'm not usually a fan of short stories, so we'll see how this goes. The common thread/theme for these stories is that they are noir mysteries with or without Things That Go Bump In The Night.

I'm reading Agincourt by Juliet Barker.  It seems Henry V didn't fall off the turnip wagon into that muddy field and I can't wait to get back to the story.

FB there is another series by Tate Hallaway, first book is Tall, Dark & Dead. They centre around a character called Garnet Lacey. I came across the first one on the library shelf and read it, easy fun read, of course they didnt have any of the others but my curiosity was piqued enough that I found copies of nearly all the rest on Abebooks for under a $1 each and bought them, now all I need is time to read them and they are waiting for the summer holidays and days at the beach!

Yes, Schnookie, I'm enjoying reading "Chasing Fire" by Nora Roberts.
It's a book about Smoke Jumpers fighting fires in Montana, mostly, has turned into a murder mystery as well; good book.

I gave up on the short story collection - maybe not permanently, but for now. I'm on to book three in the Skulduggery Pleasant series, The Faceless Ones.

This is the audio series whose reader has a voice like a warm bed on a cold night... And the story is pretty good, too coolsmiley
