Polly..your block is very pretty too! Smitten

Do you know ahead of time what the quilt looks like? I think it would be hard to choose fabrics if you don't?

Thank you all for your lovely compliments but I am afraid i find my block a bit 'flat'. its times like these i wish i had a even just a small stash of commercial fabrics. I had nothing that resembled a apple tree. I will have to stick buttons or beads on it Undesided

Debs, they are all mine apart from one foreigner, a small piece of batik under the tree. And I agree this project would make a good quilt along.

Fibber, I was the same as you. I spent all morning choosing the fabrics and it only took an hour to make it! And as for the firefox thing, nothing seems to work well with it, so i have to keep switching to internet explorer. if anyone here has any ideas i would be very interested in hearing them.

Very nice block, Polly. Hanging or embroidering a few "apples" would be cute.

Ann, it's a BOM mystery thingy. With this first one, she told us it was an apple tree and posted a picture of her finished block.

That and the pattern is all the info we get. (Oh, it's a 7" block)

I can't believe there's no coffee smiley guy... doh

PostSubject: Re: Carol Doak's Paper Pieced Blocks   Sun Nov 02, 2008 2:17 pm

The November Carol Doak "Scenic BOM" block is posted. (Looks like it's been there for awhile, I just noticed!)

Seems to be a house with a (an eeety-beeety PP) flag flying in the front yard (ref Veteran's Day, Elections...). Non-US players (and the US ones, too!) are encouraged to be inventive if they don't want the flag.

I don't know why I thought it would be a tree every month. Now that I think about it, I'm glad it's not. That could get boring.

And speaking of boring, I think I'll go have a nap. ;)

My husband says that is a Cuban flag but there was no way I could accurately piece those teeeny tiny stripes :hammer: & that's the only flag I had to fussy cut so Cuban it is. At least it's red, white & blue!!!
