That's about my situation.  I feel as though I'll never get to my UFOs. Also, I just saw a fan variant made with Asian fabrics. Oh, Yum!!

Memaw, here is a pic of my first three blocks, the first one is trimmed to size, to be honest I think I regret doing that, I think I prefer them on the bigger background and if I have enough linen, I may just redo the first block.  The E seems much bigger than the other letters but might jsut be my imagination. The star button on the first block is just tacked to hold it in place, I will put it in the snowmans hands when the project is assembled

Im doing the filler blocks is a soft cream with white polka dots, will post pics as I get more done, summer car trips meant I got these done

Okay, I really like yours Helen. I have never worked with wool but now I wish I had the first three patterns. This would be nice for handwork and to learn about wool. The wool is hand sewed? Probably could be done all in cotton too if you wanted it to be. Would just lack the texture and dimension. Ah well, always the next time.

Very nice Helen even if looking at the Winter aspect of it makes me cringe. Spring is still not here in northern Wisconsin! cold

TxMary the only wool I used was the red on the letter, the rest is plain old felt, the wool is as easy to work with as the felt, I have some hand dyed wool pieces Ive picked up here and there. I just blanket stitched everything down. You could easily do it all in cotton but would have to do it needle turn or fused to stop fraying is all. The female cardinal bird I did, I used this fabric that I got at the quilt store, off the bolt, not sure what its classed as, its like flannel but its woven, very soft but I needle turned the bird as that stuff would fray like nothing else. I used left over linen I had for the blocks, the remnant piece from the William Morris quilt Im still plugging away on. I checked last night and I dont have enough to redo the first block so they will all be the smaller size after all.

Hope it warms up soon for you Ann Marie, are you getting sunny days or just cold, cold, cold?

Still freezes every night - 50's during the day but cold winds at 10-20mph & very little sun. Brrr. Going to hang wash this morning though, & it will dry fast.
