PostSubject: Anita's Tree Sampler   Tue Jan 05, 2016 1:12 pm

This has been a long time wanna do for me. There are so many different tree blocks out there and thought it would be so fun  to make a quilt with many of these blocks. So.... I made a list of blocks from 3 sources. Many are 12" but some are larger or smaller. I am planning mine to be scrappy greens and white/cream. Most of these blocks have a zillion pieces and you really have to like these blocks! Anyone besides Red wanna do this with me? C'mon, it will be fun!

Here is the block listing:

Tree of paradise -14”

I admire you ladies who can put together those little bitty blocks and make them come out perfect.  Even using thangles mine didn't.....  Knuppel    Perhaps paper piecing would?

Your tree blocks Anita are beautiful.  I love the greens your using....

Can't remember what it looks like. Similar to my pine tree block. Not too bad.

Thanks!

Red the trunk is the scariest part! The rest is easy enough to figure out. It is a 12" block. The HST finish at 1.5 ". Will  try to get the other specs for you.

Dang it! I cut some of the pieces wrong! Of course it is that tree trunk! I cut the center strips wrongt. So Jack the ripper and I sre gonna spend some time together.

Seucs are -

Big triangles on the corners are 5-3/8" cut in half
.small white triangles are 2-3/8" cut in half.
I did all the HSTat 2-1/2 and trimmed them down to 2".
The rectangles are 2x3.5"
Trunk parts
strips are 1-11/16" x 5.5"
White triangles are 4-3/8 cut in half.
Green triangles are 3-3/8" cut in half.

Hope between this and the pic you can figure it out. Hopefully I will post a real pic soon.

That block looks much nicer all put together than it did in 27 billion pieces on the cutting table last weekend, Anita mom!

I keep thinking the tree sampler would look cool in winter/snow colors or fall colors too...

It looks good to me Anita.  Isn't this the way its suppose to look?   NO way could I work with those tiny little blocks... I admire you ladies that can.

I "might" be able to do it if it were paper pieced.  But that would be the only way.
