This isn't part of the sampler but since I worked out how to do it, I'll make it into a wall hanging or part of my next potholder quilt.

Nice work, Red! My book from the library is in. It is the Jinny Beyer quilt block book. Hoping I will find some new blocks in it.

Been going through some old magazines and found a pattern for live oak tree in Country Quilts summer 1989. It has templates! Looks like the diamond tree you just did, but it is on point! Would love to find rotary directions for it. I Ave drafted about 5 more blocks, so we may call it quits at a dozen blocks. Just need to pick the next block!

Anita I got so excited the other day looking through old magazines. Found a tree block! But alas you already did it. But was kinda fun running across something I recognized as someone's project.

I don't really have a pic, so you will have to wait for the finished block.

Funny story - I had graphed the block from the Jinny Beyer book and it was supposed to be 7x7 but I made a mistake and graphed it 7x8, so I needed to fix it. Got everything laid out but the trunk which I still needed to grapgh and was agaonizing over. So I have been going through old magazines and lo and behold, one had the templates with seam allowances for the trunk in the right size! I think God was helping me!

Red, I will snail mail you the templates and the old pattern I would like to do. Perhaps you copuld figure out a way to do the pattern for machine piecing? I have not found a way. My eyes glaze over thinking about it.

Anita, I got the sampler.  The strip piecing is fairly easy.  I had to pin at the seams on every row.  The outer rows got a bigger scrap so they could be cut without losing the seam allowance.  I'll send you the directions and the photos are in my gallery.  I think.  If not, I'll repost them.

Your patterns were in the mail this morning. Sorry I didn't reply but do I have to tell you how hectic it is with GKs?
