My ink cartridge arrived today, as soon as I put it in, my scanner is working, yay!! Im going to see if I can work out a way to scan and email my rows for speed. I used to do files for the forum BOM back in 2009 so Im sure I can remember how to do it again.

That'll be great if you can do that Helen. Save a lot of postage.

A standard letter, and they weigh them now, you arent allowed much weight, my winter patterns only just scraped in and its only 3 or pages of paper, anyway, they are now $2.65 each to post over seas, what a rip off, a local stamp is now $1

Gimpy yes just email me a picture of the main elements and I can take it from there. I just sent a mug rug to OZ and it was $3.50. It's hard to stay in monthly swaps with the postage going up all the time!

yeah monthly swaps are starting to add up postage expense wise, being able to scan our designs and email would be the way to go, means its a no cost swap

So after easter, what rows do we do next? Gonna have to do a halloween row swap, fall, spring, xmas????

Well we started with winter, doing Easter/Spring. How about summer next? Wouldn't have to get in a huge hurry since summer is not here yet. Would give us a bit of time. A row that reflects our favorite activity/memory/item of summer.

If we stay in order, maybe it'll be easier to stay on track.

Well we just did a one with summer so how about Fall? That gives us all kinds of time and at least one row by row for each season!

PostSubject: Re: Easter row by row swap   Sat Mar 05, 2016 2:43 pm

I just wrote a list in my notebook, two columns, I have listed in order they appear for holidays and since we started with Winter, seasonal order accordingly

Seasons

Winter
Spring
Summer
Autumn

Holidays

Easter
Halloween
Thanksgiving
Xmas

So technically, going by the list Undesided  the next row we would actually do would be Spring itself. Easter falls in autumn for me, so I would like to have an actual spring themed quilt eventually but its no hurry for me as spring wont roll around here until Sept.  Seeing as spring is already upon everyone else, by  using powers of simple deduction, we will skip spring for now!

Ok, so, it seems that we would all like the same thing, time to get a row quilt together ready for an approaching season or holiday. That means that if we skip down to the next on the list, Summer, it would give everyone 3mnths to get their quilt top done. If we make the pattern creating/swapping time, say two weeks turnaround, then it would give 2 1/2 mnths to make the quilt. Personally, I liked how fast we did the easter rows, its just drawing some pics and scanning them, not a big burden and doesnt need months to achieve. If we keep rolling along with swapping the rows, we will have a whole set in no time Very Happy

Come fall,  Id love to actually have a fall quilt, again, my seasons are opposite to you so halloween which is  fall for you, lands mid spring for me. Being as its only drawing/designing rows I hope we can do all of them :-)    So, that would mean during the american summer, we would be working on fall themed rows, depending how many people join each swap will dictate how many rows we design. If six join a swap, we can do one each, if only 3 like the easter one, we can design two each. If someone wanted, you could sit down and draw as many rows for each season/holiday as you wanted and get ahead so that come swap time, you simply email/mail your row design to whoever else is in the particular swap. I find sometimes, when Im on a roll its good to keep on going so I was thinking I might sit and draw up two rows for every theme and have them all ready to go as each one is needed. Then Im ahead (wow, that would be a change) and if I change my mind on a row, or think up something better in the meantime, its no big deal to just draw a new one.

Members can jump into whatever swaps interest them, hopefully, in the end,  we will get a series of quilts featuring rows designed by lots of us here. Hope my ramblings make sense, so it looks like Summer is the next theme. I will open a new topic for it :summertime: fan

I explained about row by rows to my guild. some people liked the idea, but are apparently going with published row by row patterns. Phooey! I was hoping for people to work more creatively.

I made a little progress. Got my patterns enlarged and pulled my fabric. Maybe? tomorrow I will find a little time to work on them more. May have to do a little fudging, They may be fused and not sewn when I take a picture.

Those look great. The eyes on Helen's bunnies are a nice addition. I really like your fabric choices.

Love your rows, the carrots are cute as with their different tops, looks like all different varieties, hmmm maybe I should add a purple one, I grew them one year and white ones too. Love the peeps, Id never have thought to do peeps, too clever and I like the bunnys all looking down at the carrots, that sure made me laugh. Love your background fabrics, lovely, its going to be a pretty quilt. Hope you can get the scans to work, I was so frustrated with mine, felt so relived when it finally worked. I hope to work on my rows soon too, they are calling to me, now I wonder what Linda has up her sleeve??

Funny girls!

I finished one of my row patterns and it is ready to email and almost done with the second. I wish my fabric wasn't all in boxes I have some that would go perfectly with the second row. I'll try to get them made up this week so I can post.
