PostSubject: Autumn Challenge Competition 2016   Sun Aug 14, 2016 3:29 am

How about some fun, a challenge and a competition all in one. In 2009 and 2012 we ran comps and to enter you had to create a quilt block that depicted the challenge theme. We all had fun and so I thought 'why not do it again?"

The rules are simple, to enter you will need to create a quilt block, any style - (artistic, pieced, scrappy, appliqued, embroidered etc etc) that depicts Fall - Autumn. Your block can be any size up to and including 16", maximum of two entries per member. When you have created your block you will need to email me a photograph of it, I will post each photo anonymously on a separate topic and when the competition closes all forum members get to vote once for their favourite block. You don't have to enter the competition to vote. The winner is the block with the most votes.

The prize? Undesided   what could a quilter want? What don't they have?? Undesided Undesided Undesided  How about one of these, a quilt rack to hang your creations on?

Shocked  lmao  lmao  lmao  lmao  Sorry, Im all out of the quilt racks, instead, how about a $25 gift certificate from Connecting Threads?

So get thinking, haul your autumn theme fabrics out, find your threads and get creating, as they say, "You've got to be in it to win it"

You have until  Sept 30th to get the photo of your block submitted to me, then voting will open  Thumbup

Some ideas rolling  around  the  back  of  my  mind. Block designs, not rack choice!  What kind of time frame are we talking  and what are the parameters  of the design elements ?   Freestyle  say freestyle!  Or not.lmao

yeah I ummmm kinda figured the quilt racks might be distracting, just imagine what quilts you are making and wanting to make that could be draped on the racks.............................. lmao lmao

So, is anyone thinking (with their one spare brain cell thats not focused on the rack) about entering the competition?

While I like the streamlined design and compact features of the rack on the left. I would rather have the one on the right. A lot less drama and holds bigger quilts. Plus I can leave it outside when I don't have any quilts to display. Twisted Evil

Ok, I have a question. Does it have to be a block that is entered or can it be a quilt top? I have one fall one I wanted to do sometime and might try to get a top done for this if that counts.

It has to be a block, sorry, cant be a whole quilt top, could you perhaps use a block from the top?

Ive made a slight change to the rules, there is now a maxium block size of 16" so anything up to and including 16" is fine.

Like TxMary, Id prefer the rack on the right, it could be my true friend and unlike 'Mr Ed' on the left it doesn't talk so I don't have to listen to it moan about man flu or anything else the male species thinks is conversation. lmao lmao

Thanks for the clarification. I was thinking more wall hanging size, but I don't think I can meet the 16" requirement. That's OK....I have lots of other stuff to be worked on right now!

Bratt it doesnt have to be 16" it can be any size up to 16" so you could do an 8" or a 12" or a 6", just no bigger than 16"

Trying to work on ideas. The ideas are having a hard time forming in my stuffy head. And if I take too much meds, I get some pretty weird ideas! Shocked
