Several of us had problems settling on fabric for our ornaments. Maybe we have too much to choose from.........nah, that can't be it. lmao

Okay, so I drew a pattern last night. Thursday I'll go to my not-so-LQS and get sparkly fabric. Progress is being made...

Oh yes, Memaw, I'd love to do the applique....not! I don't like applique or paper piecing, but told Memaw last week that one of my new year's resolutions is to learn paper piecing.

Jill, good luck with the PPing. My preferences for a beginner block are New York Beauty or Dresden (The pointy kind of Dresden so you can machine applique it to the background.) They look a lot harder than they actually are, so you get lots of ego boost.

Jill its not that hard, just do the opposite to what your brain thinks is logical!!! Remember I tackled those cardinal blocks not realising that pp is rated for levels (well duh) so I did experienced blocks but they werent that hard, just more fiddly little pieces. Just follow the numbers, you can do it!!

I can name a few people who I know would love to see my tongue sewn to my lips so that I wouldn't be able to talk!

Thanks for the advice, QMN. I like the NY Beauty block, but perhaps I'll start with the dresden plate you mentioned. I was thinking of doing a pineapple block, but haven't really looked into it yet. I might have to take my sewing machine to the hospital for my 2-1/2 to 3 week stay.

Oh thats nice, they only want to see it sewn to your lips, I think there are few people who would prefer to see mine cut out lmao lmao lmao

Oh wow, imagine if you could take your sewing machine, that would be great, tell them its mental health therapy, keeps you sane and happy and a happy patient responds better to treatment! I didnt know about trying easy blocks, I just jumped into it, you could do the same thing, why not lol!

Quilter's cache has lots of great instructions, including a pineapple block and the pineapple star which I tweaked to make 4 sub-blocks into Christmas trees. (It's in my album). I do think that either Dresden or NYB is easier to start with, however.

Ours are packed and headed to post office today. I know it is early but we are going to East Texas at the end of the month, and what with Thanksgiving and all, I don't want to end up late because one of them has to swim the big pond. Easier to take both at same time so one will definitely be early, and one will make it by first of December, hopefully a bit earlier so I don't have to worry about it for too long. Thud

So away they go!!!!!!!!!!!!!
