Very very pretty Linda.  Mines all fused down, but not stitched yet.  It'll happen sometime.

Thanks for the reminder, Mary Ann - I was gonna remind everyone on the first, but Life got in the way. My hours at work have almost doubled this summer, I have two patterns close to publishing stage, and two new classes to write up for this month. Thud

July is traced and window-paned, the fabrics are chosen and the tree is fused to the background... I haven't even looked at August yet! doh

Mine is fused and I picked fabric for the sashing and the borders. Something a bit different than what I usually do. I am liking it. I might start sewing the blocks together when I get this one fused.

looking good. I am glad that I did not continue with the idea of doing this, however, as fire victim quilts would have stopped me in my tracks.

Okay, here are all my pics to get up to date:
Block 1

Block 2

Block 3

Block 4

Block 5

Block 6

Block 7

Block 7 gives a sneak peak at my sashing. Color is a bit off- too yellow- sashing is actually a purplely pink!

I do have a little appliqueing tip to pass along. That tree on block four was a nightmare of starting and stopping. Then block six showed up and I thought there's got to be a better way. So I fused and appliqued the trunk of the tree. Then I fused on the limbs and appliqued and then fused on the ornaments and appliqued. It worked great. Was much easier and the stitching does not show under the pieces fused on top. Saved a lot of time and a lot of stops and starts.
I will be keeping that in mind when I have a lot of overlapping pieces. It may not work on larger pieces, they may show the stitching more, but these tiny ones did not.

Great tip, and great update, TxM!

I'm not appliqueing as I go, so it looks like I'm going to be doing it 'the hard way'. cry2

I have the tree down for July's block, and the fusible is on the fabric for the remaining pieces; I hope to get it finished later this week, after I've put out the current fire...

Our guild is doing a Christmas Tree block swap, kinda. Groups of 6 people, each person makes six identical blocks in an assigned month and shares with the group. My specific group is doing a Design Your Own.  On Friday, one of my friends asked if I had my blocks done - I hadn't realized that my blocks are 'due' on TUESDAY!  For some reason I thought my month was November.

I'm not happy that my Saturday class was cancelled, but it sure came at the right time.  Aargh!

If you wait for September's you can stitch them both at the same time!

Well, it's been a zoo, with no relief in sight for a week or so... but I did manage to get my gnomes and the little stars cut out for JULY's block one night this week before I passed out in the chair! snooze

One new discovery - I have one of those forehead-headband light things that people use for caving and the like. It works GREAT for spotlighting handwork! I'm looking forward to using it while doing detailed work at my machine, too. Looks kinda goofy, but light is light, am I right?

My husband swears by his head lamp. I may have to give one a try.

Guess I better go get my patterns for September!
