Yes, TxM, the sashing is perfect - and I am jealous that you're sewing together as you go.

This last block is my least favorite. It seems... heavy in comparison to the other blocks. Maybe because there's not a similar amount of background? I'll put on my thinking cap. Expect changes.

Still not had a chance to sew my LAST 3 down yet and here we are on the last one!     Tracy, mine don't have sashing between them yet either.   But, at least the crazy things are fused down!  lol! Hopefully I'll get it done to hang for Christmas! lmao

Your colors Tracy have just been gorgeous.  Thumbup

So I had the same feeling as Tracy about the last block. I cut my fabric and put it together on the design board with the rest of the blocks and no......it did not work for me. I tried a couple of different reds but they just clashed with the pinkish plaid sashing. So I though about it a while and remembered that when I first saw the quilt I thought it was a door. So I looked up the first Gnome BOM Cindy had and found a door I liked and with a few modifications I got this.

Being inspired by our fearless Gnome leader, I took some time to try to line up my plaids for my sashing so the patterns would match. I think they turned out pretty good.

And then I put it all together and got this

This was fun. I love the gnomes. Thank you so much Tracy for encouraging us.

Oh, wow, TxM - it looks GREAT!!  congrats on getting it done!!!!

Brilliant job, salvaging that last block. Which pattern did you cannibalize to get that?

I'm impressed with your matchy-matchy plaids... and now I'm reconsidering the fabric I got for sashing. It is one of those ridiculously-expensive digital prints, but I'm pretty sure it's directional in some way. It's not out of the running yet, but I'll have to have a hard look at it.

Oh WOW, it looks amazing TxMary and in the whole top photo all those plaid lines march neatly across the rows, lined up, WOW! Door block with the wreath looks good, finishes it nicely. I think Id have to put a star button onto the star block, it tends to stand out as being the plainest block of them all - as in the designer placement, not your work (ok so I know you get what I mean, its early, Ive not even had a cuppa yet!) Love your cheery borders too, goes really well Thumbup Thumbup

TxM WOW that looks wondeful! I haven't had a chance to get started on the last block yet. I still need to stitch down block 9.

Thanks, I am glad y'all like it. Wish I had a better picture. A lot of the colors from the blocks is picked up in the border.

Helen, I agree about the star block. There are a few things I have thought of to embellish the blocks but I have to wait until it is quilted.

Tracy, I used Block 2 from the Gnome Buddies BOM. I had to make the door taller and then I decided it needed a wreath so I just free hand cut one out and then did the same for the bow. If you want/need a copy of the door I can send you a copy. I like the curve at the top and the extra lightness through the window. The light wood color helped too and picks up some golden browns I have else where in the quilt and the pine cones in the border.
