That link wouldn't work for me. I ordered towels from them and if you order 12 or more they're 30 off each. When I placed my order I wasn't feeling good and miscounted. The owner of the shop called to tell me if I added one more towel to my order I'd be eligible for the discount and it would be like getting the towel free. Fantastic customer service!
Maybe this link will work?

I have at last found the elusive tea towels I was looking for.
I found bleached muslin feedsack tea towels at my local Kmart
They were 6.99 for 4 towels, I thought about just buying muslin and turning an edge but I guess I'm lazy.

These are the ones I bought

Oh, goody! This is going to be so much fun!

Chris - Did you want to use different towels? Just wondering as - The flour sack towels (what I call dish towels) are lighter weight and more loosely woven than the tea towels the others here have shown. The flour sack towels are usually a larger size, while the tea towels are more the size of what I call a hand towel. I think in the stores they just call them kitchen towels. Okay - so much for answering a question you didn't ask! Don't mind me.

Okay seeing you guys call eveything different to us I assume you mean a tea towel the sort you dry your dishes with? Do they have to be any specific colour and do you chose your own design or will one be picked for us to do?

Pookie..The towels I ordered are the size like you'd use to dry dishes. Choose whatever color pleases you..they are your towels! LOL We haven't "nailed down" the specifics..but I think we'll choose our own design? It will add to the fun seeing what everyone comes up with.

I suppose some people may use a t-towel for drying dishes, but its always been a decorative towel for me... I use a white flour sack that I usually embroidery on for drying my dishes... but I have also appliqued on dishtowels (the white flour sacks) and they have turned out really cute... I used SBSues and put fabric on her bonnet and dress.....

I have a nice little tea towel I got at a garage sale. It's just cream colored linen with pretty embroidery on it. I just use it as a decoration. I don't dry dishes much anyways..I mostly use the dish washer or let them air dry.

I thought this tea towel idea was a fun one!

Maybe I bought the wrong kind, They are the same size as my terry cloth kitchen towels.
The only woven ones I found have a lot of color and pattern in them and I wanted them plain. Mostly everything in the stores is waffle weave and terry cloth, I was not sure that would be good for applique, Now I'm rethinking the project and maybe I'll go redwork on these instead.
I won't use these for anything but decoration or maybe to cover rising bread, a lightweight woven towel is what I prefer for that.

I don't think these are "wrong" Chris. If you wanted plain, those are perfect. Just think what all you could do with them- add a border, a ruffle, some ribbon. And ANY color applique would show up wonderfully.

I may go look at these too since I can't decide what color would work. I want them for gifts too, for several people, and I am having to think too far ahead. scratch

Chris..several of the ones I ordered from the link Golo gave are sort of a butter color (I got stripe and a window pane plaid)..and some are darker. I was thinking I'd want the applique to show up. My kitchen is done in Autumn colors so there were several that worked for me. If you have white you could do applique or redwork and that would be cute too. The towels I got are the size of terry dish drying towels but have a smooth weave like homespun.

I think the confusion here ladies is that we dry dishes with different kinds of towels so some are talking apples & some are talking oranges!!! lol! I was confused too as to which ones to order from Golo's site. There must be 100 different kinds!

Chris - After my big explanation about towels, I forgot to tell you - I have machine appliqued on flour sack towels like you got. I fused the applique using Heat n'Bond lite, then machine blanket stitched around the design. It worked just great! I have some really old ones that my dear Gram did - sunbonnet ladies with some applique and some embroidery - all hand done of course.

Golo,
Your towels look great! Do you fuse and blanket stitch or satin stitch? How do you get around those tiny yellow flowers?
I don't know why I am afraid to applique on colored towels.....Just need a blank canvas I guess. I have much to learn!!

CC, I did sew around the flowers and then sewed a little heart button in the center... it is fun to embelish with button.. both towels have them on... I use all kinds of stitches but probably the blanket stitch the most... but I love to experiment...
