I don't think we need a sign up... I will just remind everyone each month to check it out... We will make it a locked box and then anyone interested can check it out... I hope to see lots of lovely pictures in the T-towel album....

Sorry tlc... they are taken already.... :)

look great linda and golo, I have used waffle weave and cotton weave towels succesfully, also the linen ones are great, only the terry ones arent that good, they shrink and go nasty.
(pookie the nancy halvorsen ones you bought are a good kind to use) Also my udnerstanding of it is that each person will choose their own design and then you post them in the album for everyone to see what you did, you wont be given a design - is that correct golo?

Looks like a great list, I think when the time comes we can make a list of who is joining the quilt along and golo might add it to the theme list, that way we know who is joining us but you dont have to do it if you cant (but at least we will know who we can tease about not getting theirs done)

Right... the theme is given for the month, but the pattern is up to each individual .. I think this is what is going to make it a lot of fun... then when we look in the album we will all be treated.. A sign up is just fine....

I have some tea towels purchased from www.arttoheart.com Nancy Halvorsens site I have used these plenty for applique and even posted some of the pictures on our old site if any one remembers these are great... I may have to come up with my own design seeing we don't celebrate St Padys Day or Independance Day but the whole idea is great... :yahoo:

This is going to be such fun! I ordered my first pile of towels from Quilters Studio (the site Golo told us about).

Pookie - how about in July you show yourself quietly quilting or reading or soaking in the tub? It could be your very own Independence Day!
lol!

Shucks, Linda! If you hadn't found them, I would have been so happy that I knew something I could share! My towels arrived this morning, and they look so nice! I can hardly wait to get started.

My sort-of LQS has started stocking some towels and applique patterns for towels. One of the owners had made a couple of samples. She "windowed" the heat n'bond lite just like I always do, so there's only a 1/4" or so fusing the applique around the edge. This is the different part - instead of machine applique, the patterns show using 2-3 strands of embroidery floss and doing a big stitch running stitch on the applique, maybe about 1/8" or so in from the edge.

I'm anxious to give this a try. I have so/too many machine applique quilts in process. I like the idea that the towels can be a sitting in my recliner project.

I ordered my towels today. Saw the Sherbert collection at my LQS but got them for almost 1/2 the price at Quiter's Studio. They didn't have Carnation (pink) though so may need to bite the bullet & get 2 at LQS so I have 2 sets of the 6 colors. I've never done a SBS so thought I'd do those & adapt them for each monthly theme. :sewing1:

Just a thought...I was shopping in a thrift store today and saw a cute Tea towel with applique, but once the towel was washed it shrank..and the applique didn't. It might be a good idea to get the towels a little wet and toss them in the dryer to preshrink them? It spoiled what was otherwise a cute little towel.

Ann, they do shrink angry . I always throw mine in the washer and dry them.
I had one that showed up a couple of MAJOR flaws, infact, they were HOLES!!
Took them back to the QS with no problem. Just glad I didn't go to all the applique work first.

You have any idea how old that kit is???? I can't even remember when it was that crappy quilt shop went out of business. lol!

You can always buy more towels at the good LQS Saturday at their birthday sale (the one I am not going to, so quit asking me.)

Also is the list that I first saw the one we are printing and using for our tea towels ? And if so could someone please advise me of what design we are doing for each month as I have lost the list...

Pookie, I love the bright colors. I think they will be perfect for T-towels.
You're just about all set.

Pookie, Check the Sticky T-Towel QA.... it list each month... and Bearfoot has made an album for us to put a picture of our ttowel in after we are done... Don't forget to wash your towels first... they will shrink... and your towels are perfect...
