You have a pretty group of towels! Some of mine are a bit on the dark side. I think it will depend on what appliques you use? For the first one I'll be using a dark so the snowman shows up nicely against it. Thumbup

I stumbled across a couple of pretty towels yesterday, egg shell blue - one has stripes one white polka dots, got another pair same patterns in soft shell pink, never seen anything like them, pink will be good for valentines, blue for something wintery or summery! they are in the wash now. I have a couple of others but will have to find others when I can

Gimpy..it sounds like you were lucky to find those towels? I've never seen any like it. They'll be fun to work with!

I'm happy to hear you're going to join us Charal! It's going to be fun to see what each of us comes up with.

I decided I didn't like the towels I bought and I've been really housebound as my son managed to remove his engine then find a job...so he's got my car during the day so he can get to work and putting the engine back in has been slow going. I'd like to check out T.J. Maxx. trying to keep down the shipping charges. I'm plotting my design for January.

I'm Buzzy's..your towel is cute. That may be the only snow your DSis gets? lol!

CC..I found some tea towels at Kroger's grocery store. My TJ Maxx didn't have anything that looked like it would work for me. Good luck on your search. You could always get homespun or something like that and make your own too?

I bought one package of cheap towels at Thrifty White Drugstore - I liked the weave so thought I'd see what happened. I really wasn't surprised when I washed them and they shrunk and got all out of shape and faded. Oh well, I'll use them but I'm certainly not going to spend any time appliqueing on them.

I found two towels today at Marshall's. I like them except they have a rather wide border. I was thinking about homespun too ann and stopped at the LQS (Local chapter of the Quilt Police too I might add) which is on my way to my parents today, I guess I'm just hung up on them being plain and not patterned or lined.
I need a "blank canvas".......me and Van Gogh...both a bit OCD i think Shocked I did buy the towels at Marshalls, I think they will work for the fall months. T.J.'s was too far out of my way today.

Well I had these original flour sack towels I bought when this was first announced so I decided to play and practice....I just love how my towel turned out and I'm considering January done. I do like working with a plain background. I only have four of the flour sack so I'll keep looking around for the other ones. You'll have to wait till January for a pic!

Chris - How nice that your flour sack towel worked out (though you're a touch show-offy telling us your January towel is done! ) Can't wait to see it!

Sally - I hope you'll join in. I say that for purely selfish reasons - we'll get to see more of your fun and creative applique!

Sally ... glad to have you join us... I'll be looking forward to seeing some pugs on your towels... :) CC... good going... I have mine done also, but thought I would need to show it on the 1st of Jan. just to give everyone an idea... but I think this group is going to do well on their own.. Looking forward to seeing yours in the album... Fun, isn't it ??

I wash and ironed up all my towels the other day, but keep grabbing them to make extra xmas gifts... I'll have to order more towels pretty soon...

I'm fairly new to fusable and have been using the steam a seam light, Do you all use the heavier fusable if you aren't going to sew something down? I'm unsure of how to tack down tiny things that you really can't sew around (like snowman eyes)
