Aloha - greetings from me after returning from Hawaii (and yes, of course, I bought more Hawaiian quilting fabric. not the 400 yards I bought last year. This year I think I only bought about 20 yards). :D

Okay, here's what I've got for the swap so far. Let me know if I got anybody wrong or forgot to add anybody who wanted to swap thier scraps.

Bearfoot 3 - 4 bags (I need to know if you want to swap 3 or 4)
Lem 4 bags
Linda 2B is in for 3 bags
Stcycly66 is in for 2 bags
Golo is also in for 2 bags

If I don't hear any differently, tomorrow evening I'll post the list of who swaps with who. It will be up to each of you to get the address for the person(s) you will be sending your scraps to.

Talk to you all again tomorrow. Right now I've got to get some Hawaiian blocks cut out. :D

Okay, I looked back on what I had said before and I had said I would post the swap list right after I got back, so here it goes.

Bearfoot will send one bag to each: golo, lem, stcycly66, and linda 2b
LEM will send one bag each to: golo and linda 2b. LEM will send two bags to bearfoot (don't worry, I have soooo many scraps, I'll make sure each bag is different).
Linda 2B will send one bag each to: lem, bearfoot, and stcycly66
Stcycly66 will send one bag each to: lem and linda 2b
Golo will send one bag each to: lem and bearfoot

If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I'll do it again.

BTW, I forgot to mention that the above swap assumes Bearfoot is in for 4 bags. If that's not correct, let me know and I'll adjust and re-post.

Marynel, do you still have Dresden Plate scraps you are trying to get rid of? I would love to have some. If you don't, but have scraps you want to get rid of, I would like them too... I wanted to make a scrap quilt but never have much left over and most of my color choices are repeat colors. I do not do much that is not "brights" or "neons"... Let me know how much to send you

I have not sent any except the one package to Golo. I have 2 boxes half way ready to go. I got Memaw's check today, and finished by birthday blocks but otherwise was recovering from the 11 hour trip yesterday. We will have a trip to the eye doctor for DH tomorrow, so nothing will go out until at least Monday, maybe later, as DH hired someone to blow "cottage cheese" surfacing onto the living room ceiling on Sat, and that is really the only place I have enough room for fabric sorting.

Marynel, glad you received my check. I was about to PM you and now I won't need to.

I'll be glad to go through my scraps and take a picture and if anyone is interested, you can have them. I don't want any in return. I'll do it sometime over the weekend and will post a picture come Sunday.

Have a Blessed weekend quilt family,

Barb, if you don't think you can do 4 bags, I can adjust the list and put you in for 3. Let me know pretty quick though so that I can make the change to the list before others mail out their scrap bags. :D

Barb, if you only want to do three bags, that's fine. The new list will be changed as follows:

Bearfoot sends one bag each to: golo, lem, and linda 2b
Linda 2B sends one bag each to: golo, lem, and stcycly66.
Lem will send one bag instead of two to bearfoot.

LINDA, Don't make any changes yet until we hear back from Barb.

PostSubject: Re: Scrap Bag Swap   Sun Feb 22, 2009 1:31 am

Well, I'm almost finished sorting my scraps. Man! I didn't realize that I had THAT many!

If any one is interested I have a full quart bag full of tiny scraps -- corners, triangles, narrow strips, and some left over 2x2 from making fabric wreaths. I'll toss these in with the scraps I'm sending to the first person that says they have an interest in them. Otherwise, even though I hate to throw anything away, especially fabric, these are getting tossed.

I also have a bunch of flannel scraps if anyone is interested in those. Some pieces are pretty nice size. Most are the left over after making robes and pjs for the kids last Christmas.....or was it Christmas before last???

There is also an alarmingly large pile of misc. fabric scraps. These are left over from clothes and home decor projects. There is everything in here from velvet (the real stuff), satin (may not be real), cordoroy, chantung, charmuse (not sure if I spelled that right), lots of moleskin, and some misc. other stuff. Let me know if anyone would be interested in these. These are too good too toss, so if no one is interested, I'll just store them separate from my quilting cotton scraps.

Okay, two more big piles to sort through and then I'm packing bags and getting ready for mailing. :D

Happy swapping all.
Lora.

WOW LEM!! That is a great collection. I love those types of fabrics for making the gifts in my CHristmas Tree wall hanging.... I make a pieced tree, decorate it with small ornaments that are glued on (No washing this wall hanging!!) and then applique small squares and rectangles under the tree. These are never cotton... satin, lame', silk (though only had a tiny piece and so only used it on one wall hanging...), brocade, tafetta or what have you... I love the shiny look.... then ribbons for the bows.... so cute! I will post a pic some time... when I find out what DH did with the pic.... HMMM

Wow, I am really excited about exchanging scraps. I love making scrappy quilts and now I will be able to make one that looks different from the rest because it will have different scraps! YEAH!!!!

Also glad to find good homes for my other scraps (flannel and misc.). The tiny pieces are still up for grabs. If no one is interested in those, I may sort through them one more time before tossing. Oh and BTW, there isn't a quart sized bag. It's going to be closer to a fully packed gallon bag. Yikes! These ended up at the bottom of my bin somehow and surprised me when I got to the end of the last pile to sort through.
