PostSubject: Quilters Can Cook - Recipe Swap   Thu Jan 29, 2009 7:44 pm

Quilters Can Cook, this Swap you may join in anytime you wish by PMing me (Schnookie)

If anyone wants a specific category or food group, they can always email me and it can be worked in to our selections. I am always open for suggestions! I am really looking forward to all these good recipes! I actually tried something I threw together in the crock pot the other day, no recipe, just threw some chicken and rice and some veggies in. Well, it ended up in the trash. Not enough liquid for one and I don't know what I did, but it was bad :hammer: ! Dh got a big kick out of it lol! , I'm still hearing about it! Can't wait to see what our first recipe will be!

Somehow I missed this until just now! I hope it's not too late to join in! What a great idea, and many thanks to Schnookie for planning and organizing this. As I recall, Marian has told us before about some wonderful sounding foods she cooks - I'll be hoping for some of those and not her chicken and rice crockpot recipe! lmao

One of my "award winning" dishes was really early in my married life. My mom would make creamed tuna and hard boiled eggs, and serve it on toast or chow mein noodles. I was sure she used mushroom soup for the cream sauce part. At the store I saw "golden mushroom soup" and thought that sounded snazzy. That's mushrooms in beef broth - not a good replacement for the cream of mushroom soup! I think we filled up on peanut butter sandwiches after we threw that slop out!! Then there was the day before Easter only a few years ago, when I burned up not one but two raspberry cakes! Forgot one in the oven, went to the store for the ingredients, made the second one, somehow set the oven for 450 instead of 350! :hammer: We raided the Easter baskets for candy for Sunday's dessert!!

Have you ever been to someones for dinner or out and the food was well, inedible? I had it happen at a wedding reception, actually had to leave the table and head to the ladies toilet as I simply couldnt swallow it no matter what I did, my eyes were watering and my tummy heaving, how embaressing. Another time a friend cooked dinner, oh lord, I dont know what it was supposed to be, I dont want to know, it just wasnt meant to be eaten lmao

Laura asked to learn to cook on monday, announced she is worried she doesnt know how to cook and when she is a grown up she wont be able to keep growing if she cant eat LOL so yesterday (tuesday) she made her first beef casserole, she was most interested in the bay leaves LOL we put beef seasoned in flour, carrots and peas from the garden, onion and garlic, some stock and herbs/spices and into the oven to cook, it was yummy. Served it up with steamed cauli and snow peas from the garden and some steamed potato & pumpkin that I tossed with a dob of butter and a sprinkle of garlic salt - she cleaned her whole plate, was mighty proud of her dinner LOL
