Spotted what? Currants is it? We have a long wkend coming up, not my side of the border but we get an influx of holiday makers. Tassie have a Labor Day Wkend? Any excuse to do some baking! candle

:eating-chips-1 Not quite the right emoticon but you get my drift. Now I have a heap more recipes to add to my retro recipe card baking challenge, 33 yrs + of recipe cards. Luckily I have made some of them! geek

Now where do I start with this lot?? scratch whew

Hi MT, yeah its '8 hour day' in tassie monday week so next weekend is a long weekend. I didnt get to bake anything from our recipes but I did concoct my very own oatmeal cookie recipe on friday night, in a hurry and only limited ingredients LOL mind you, Bob declared them the best oatmeal cookies he ever ate and declared them banned from now on, he couldnt stop eating them lmao I named them Bullock Muster Cookies as I made them to take with our picnic lunch to the festival. Oh and yeah, spotted currants, thats it - you know that recipe is my dads favourite dessert and as a kid it was so hard to keep a straight face when making it for him, every bday and fathers day I made it for him, you gotta wonder where some names come from - any idea on its name origin Polly?

Not Polly here, but the general consensus is that it came from lazy speakers, first mangling the word 'pudding' and then shortening the mangled word. (Said by one who gets a bit of a twitch angry when certain(1) words(2) are mispronounced... *)

http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/2031/whats-the-origin-of-spotted- (and I love the "disclaimer" at the bottom of the article!)

*And when I went to link to the words that give me a twitch I've nearly popped a vein when I see that the %$@*& dictionary is now accepting the offending (to me) pronunciations as valid. Knuppel angry Knuppel Lemme at 'em, lemme at 'em....

:peek: Oops. Sorry for the side trip there. I'll be okay after a little lie-down.
:angel6:

Suggestion -- Some of the quilters included where they were from. I didn't, but really loved to see that in the recipes. Let's do that for March.

I just had soup for dinner tonight. Gotta include that recipe. Delicious.

Thud I made another mistake on February's issue. I misspelled LuvsQuilting...I put a O when it should have been a U...if you can make the correction before printing it out please do, and if you can not make corrections to the document, I will do it from here and send out a new one to you. All of it of just the pages you need corrected, which ever is fine.

LuvsQuilting I am so very sorry for that! My fingers just wanted to put that O in...I have given it a big shake and hope that it will not happen again.

I really like your idea of having us put out State/Country that each of us comes from. Now would we like that to go on the title page, or with each recipe or both? Sound good! hug08 to everyone all over the world!

Soups, stews etc? You betcha. There's even a soup "out there" called
Tracy's Soup. It's travelled from coast to (US) coast and it's made it into more than one family or fundraiser cookbook. :flower:

Of course, I will probably send in something other than that one just to be ornery... well, that and it's a bigger hit with "other" people than it is with me. I haven't made it in years!

I love soups....I can't wait to see everyone's receipes. I'm going to have to find a receipe that I've actually followed making soup. Usually I just start with a broth and then open the veggie drawer/fridge and start adding anything I find to it. My soups have everything but the kitchen sink in them LOL. lmao
