I was flipping channels and ran across a woman talking about quilts....( that doesn't happen very often) She was explaining how she felt compelled to write her grandmothers story... of her life and her quilts, well I was interestedand immediately looked it up on amazon... Found that there was another book she published with some patterns in it from the interpretations of her grandmothers quilts.. Her grandmothers name is Tallula Gilbert Bottoms.... So far it is a very good read and her quilts are beautiful! It was well worth the $$$$$ If for nothing else but a history lesson and inspiration on quilts of your own...
Obviously I don't have much time to read, so maybe I will finish it by next year! winking

Leejay, thank you. That sounds really fun to have. I like the history behind quilt making.

It is Her personal story.. I have learned alot about the Civil war. and How hard life was for those in its path. All of her life leads up to why she became a quiltmaker.. I am now only in the middle of the book, but it all ties in together why she gives you so much history of her life. There are alot of exerpts from a memoir that tallula wrote. I am now on Chapter ten. It is getting even more interesting.

I just finished it last night.. It was a good book. I would reccommend that you do check it out.. It would only take one or two days to finish if you don't have small children.. It isnt a very long book, but very informative and inspirational.

Sound really good, wonder if the state library has it here? they have a great range, I put in quilting and got 500 hits in the titles :yahoo: last place libray was pathetic. Its easy too, as the bulk of the state is rural they have the state library outlets combined wiht every high school library. So you cant use the library during school hours but its open after school and you can get anything you want and access the whole state library system, I think thats so cool!
