| http://www.perkinsdrygoods.com/blog/2009/11/13/tutorial-invisible-binding-finish/another perfect tutorial.. this is how I always finish my ends...Fons and Porter had this in one of their shows about 5 years ago and I had taped it...it is a never fail process and you would never know where the quilter started and stopped during their binding.. no lumps no bumps.. So that you can get used to this process practice on a mini quilt or just a small sandwich of batting and fabric...you won't believe how easy it is!! Enjoy.. I know this is where we always have a problem.. Deb |

| Oh thanks so much Betweens. Would you believe that the GWS causes weird problems with my memory at times, will just wipe something radom or odd. Recently I discovered Id totally lost how to start/finish binding. I got scraps out and tried every which way I could think of, nothing seemed right, the whole piece of knowledge/memory was gone, wiped away. Thanks for this, might save me some frustration, I was pretty cranky! _________________ "My will is mine.....I shall not make it soft for you" Aeschylus, Agamemnon

| Thanks for the tut, Betweens. I saw that done once & quickly wrote down how & have been using it ever since but still had trouble with the right side twisting. The tut clears that up. Great!! | |

| Betweens, you are sure timely today. I had just finished quilting a wall hanging and needed put the binding on this morning. Decided to check out Quilters Resort first and lo and behold....Betweens to the rescue. I had done a similar method, but this one is so much easier.
I copied and pasted them and printed 3. One for me and 2 for quilter friends. I'll put them in a clear notebook sleeve for protection. Will use forever!

| I don't think I use as many either when I am doing it.. but it is great for the beginner person to start with...
I find that there are going to be alot of quilts being finished at this time of year so thought why not try to find steps to make it easier.. so glad that it is helpful to some and a nice reminder for others.. I have learned so much from everyone else!! |

| And here I've just been tying a great BIG bow with my ends! Thanks ladies for the info. BTW: What is this GWS? I have totally lost my memory! All joking set aside, I am a little concerned about my memory lately. I'm having problems remembering things I did early in the day or day before, but have NO problem with what happen years ago! I guess that would be considered short term memory lost. And I honestly don't know what has caused this. I go Monday to a new woman dr. and I plan to have a very long talk with her. I've got to wonder if these migrains have anything to do with it? A few years ago my eye dr. sent me to a specialist who said I had had a stroke! I knew I had lost my side vision in my left eye, but by some miracle I did get that back and that doesn't usually ever happen I was told. I'll let you know how it goes Monday. memory |

| I developed my own method from that one. I leave a bit unattached at the beginning and end. I make and pin a 1/4" fold on ONE side, pin the 2 ends to each other, (but NOT the quilt) overlapping, then take my scissors and cut diagonnal through both layers. I pin and sew across the new cut edge, remove pins, then pin and sew the binding in place. My bindings are always right on. (Judges have commented on the quality of my bindings.)
For really precise corners, I sew to 1/4" from the corner, backstitch, do the mitered fold, take 2 stitches at the edge, skip 1/4", then continue sewing. I found I sometimes had trouble if i either skipped the 2 stitches or sewed continuously on the 2nd side of the corner. I get very sharp corners this way.

| I'll do that, but not tonight. I came up with it after i cut one end like this \ and the other like that /. since I cut them both together, I can't make that mistake. | |

However this bears repeating. I did print this and still keep it in a plastic sleeve. I have a ring binder with patterns and directions and printouts of any online stuff. this is the instruction tutorial that I use the most.
